How i can use same device names what i used with another hd? i use MorphOS1.4.5. and i soon my copy stuff new hd. and still want use
what i used before i mean device names like DH0,HD0,DF0 type stuff. One way is of course i fix my startup-sequence for disk names (Like MorphOS etc) in this backup when device names not are important and i change them later nicer when i dont have both hard drives connected. Sounds possible solution very likely there is not another vbut if it is any ideas?

    a) there is no DF0

    b) tools/HDConfig lets you set device names like DH0 without changing anything else

    c) Ambient can change volume names just like any other directory

Yeah, with HDConfig you can change device names, but don't touch anything else if you don't know what you are doing to avoid data loss.

One other option is to assign old device names to new ones. Add assign to your user-startup early enough and you don't have to touch all settings of the programs. Actually, I never config anything by "hard coded" device/volume names anymore. I have couple assigns which I use to configure programs. Then I can change actual partitions or HDs etc and programs and their settings still work. For example anything on system partition can be pointed to SYS: and then I have assigns like Utils: to point my apps drawer where ever it is located in each system etc.
