Just got a $25 PPC G4 Mac (grey series) and wanted to have some fun.
I downloaded Morphos, booted from the cd -- and voila! Morphos worked!

But it cant find my drive?
I read somewhere that it needs to be connected to the ATA socket on the motherboard, but that is presently unused.

The CD-rom is connected to the first IDE socket, and the HDD on the other.
But since it boots from the cd-rom into morphos -- what is wrong with the second device port? (device driver not picking up the second IDE socket?)

    What should I do?

At 1st it might help if you identify would HW you have exactly :http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g4/index-powermac-g4.html

    Don't know bout other versions, but on the Quicksilver-mobos you'll find 2 40pin IDE-headers.

One pointing to the front of the case, that where the CD-drive will be connected.

Another pointing to the bottom, used for HDs.

    This brings up some questions:

    - are the drives connected that way ?

    - does the G4 boot into OSX when no CD is in the drive ?

    - any odd HW (PCI-cards) installed ?

MorphOS not finding your HD can really mean 2 things:

    a) not connected where it should be

    b) that ancient clunker is on the edge of dying (had some weird issues with with an 120GB drive in a PowerBook that soon after died).

    This is extremely oss.

I remembered I had an IDE disk at work -- so i jumped in my car and got it.

The HD in the Mac was connected to the second IDE plug, so I set my second HDD as cable-select, added it -- and lo & behold.. that became visible in Morphos.

    Installing now.
Hopefully, when I reboot - I will be able to dual boot between OS X and Morphos!
