Nah, everybody forgot already who killed Iraq and Lybia leaders and made those countries into chaos.

Proxy wars, you can see and feel US and Russia not directly involved, by present in arms and diplomacy. Such conflicts in Africa or Latin America, virtually can go for ever on expense of countries peace and prosperity. Its best not to take sides.

P.S. Both Libya and Iraq have descented into new wave of chaos these days and by Western allies they are kind of resolved situations.

Its interesting to note that Ukraine and Russia still have trade :-)

UPDATE: I'm just amazed how incapable the civilized world is. At this rate another wannabe democratic/civilized country will be run over.

UN should have means to "Force to peace.", so far no success, no means.

Since the NATO airstrike of Yugoslavia back in 1999, I mostly see NATO forces in peacekeeping instead of UN. UN still has a mandate, even to push real international embargo and peacekeeping force, but since Warsaw pact dissapeared it looks like NATO sees it as their mission.

Downside is that NATO missions are even they are officially coordinated with OUN Peacekeeping, obviously they are in NATO HQ control (and interest).

    Yep.

And if NATO would start to do the peacekeeping in Ukraine, I think we know what would happen immediately ...

(but I'm afraid I might in the end turn to become pro-NATO ... even if I so far have preferred Finland to have it's own military, even if tiny.)

    UPDATE:
It seem Russia used howizer fire (again) in the morning to pave the way for it's forces.
Now 142 military vechiles have come over he border to Ukrane (new location, we know hundred(s) have already come), these 142 are heading towards Snitze.
Now I know why the "humanitarian convoy was needed... if I'm not wrong, half of Ukraine burns soon.

btw. It was also reported that russia propaganda news organization is looking forward to open radio station in finland. (so it begins???)

    UPDATE: so silent...

In the meanwhile: The main page of open newsroomcovers also the rest of the action on tellus https://plus.google.com/communities/118307175501987556985

And quick link to live rss feed: http://liveuamap.com/rss

UPDATE: Now russian tanks are running in & over ukraine.
... it also seems Russia does not want investigators to search possible BUK launch site @ snitze.

    Normal civilian destruction...? http://ukraineatwar.blogspot.nl/2014/08/russians-shelling-cities-and-villages.html

Latest on "professional" view to MH17 case:
    http://www.pprune.org/rumours-news/543733-mh17-down-near-donetsk-60.html

    Some valid observations:
    http://www.examiner.com/list/russia-s-top-100-lies-about-ukraine

UPDATE: Ukrainian forces are now forced to retreat in front of Russian military power. UPDATE2: It seems UA forces manage to resist!!

UPDATE: It would seem most aid rucks are empty or half empty. UPDATE2: so, just a PR trick by Putin.

Sometimes they hit civilians deliberately, sometimes accidentally:
    http://20committee.com/2014/08/18/russian-backed-separatists-discuss-killing-civilians/
    All the same... :-(

    Another observation:
    - It's ok for rebels to steal and rob etc.
    - But when a civilian does the same, one gets executed.
    - Rebels use nazi laws from the 40's.

    Yea, about those Nazi analogies:

An armed branch of a right-wing party fighting side by side with the regular army? Seems like Ukraine re-invented the Schutzstaffel...

Maybe this thread should be put to a halt?

We are many who has vented our opinions regarding the Ukrainia/Russia crisis here in this thread (and others), and indeed there is much about the current situation to be said. But perhaps there are other places to discuss this?

I know that it is in the "General Discussion" forum and therefore it's an OK discussion subject, technically speaking. But wouldn't it be sad if people who could (and should!) be joined together in their *MorphOS interest* would instead be split and hostile to each others because of some non-computer related politics that none of us can affect anyways?

I agree. We better close this thread... or move out of recents.

@AW there is gategory of discussions that do not show on front page. That kind of gategory is great for these non-amiga discussions.

There have been cases where people have asked for help with issues not directly related to MorphOS. If these posts do not show up in on the frontpage, they are not likely to get any attention. So, the question is whether controversies caused by a discussion thread such as this one outweight the good that comes from others that lack a direct relation to MorphOS. So far, this particular discussion thread appears to be an anomaly so I prefer to close it rather than ban all off-topic discussion from the frontpage.
