Could somebody please refresh my mind on how to edit, for instance copy one icon folder onto another one? Also related, how to add an .info file so those ghosted icons show up under "Icons" view?

    Thanks.

Just open the information window and drag a new image onto the one shown inside this window and hit save.

It's a relatively common action, so useful to define as a context menu item:

    RMB>Settings>Ambient>Mime>Internal>x-morphos-globalaction-directory

    Add New action

    OK. OK. Save.

That's what I remember but it's not woking like that. This is what I'm doing:

    1. Right click on first icon > Select Information
    2. Right click on second (target) icon > Select Information and drag icon from first Information window.

    But the icon doesn't drag.

    What am I missing?

Thank you @JPV. That wroked as a charm. Now could you please refresh mu mind on how can I use other picture files as desktop icons? I'd like for instance use the game logos as icons to identify the game.

    Rename image.png to image.info
    Then you have an Icon.

There should be something built in in MOS to create an icon based on the file type...

This is build in for ages and was even available in pre MorphOS 2 ambient versions. Just open "SYS:Prefs/Presets/Deficons". The path may differ as you can change it, which allows you to swap icon set like real themes. To get the path check the miscellaneous section in ambient preferences. There you can change/obtain the default icon path.

There you can define icons with the same naming scheme as available inside Ambient Filetypes GUI.

If you want to add an icon for gif files, just store the icon as "image/gif.info".

The naming strictly follows the filetype naming inside the ambient GUI. If Ambient knows a filetype, then you can define an icon for this specific file type. If now you create a filetype and afterwards you can add an icon. There is no need to real icons unless you require some tooltype settings.

AFAIR you can even create default icons using the ambient GUI, by simply dragging and dropping icons onto the icon inside the filetype editor window.

    @geit:

    You've misunderstood me... ;)
I just have told, that there should be a way to create the icon (*.info file) to a known file type automagically... To have a command in the right menu or button on info panel, or something.
