    Hello Morpherz,

I've been testing the new SMBFS implementation in MorphOS 3.6 yesterday and i'm facing an issue. While i can mount my shares (from a windows 8 HTPC and a linux PC), browse and read/write to them, every file i've been transferring from my macmini (morphos) to my shares, or from my shares to the macmini are corrupted. The files have the right size etc, but they are simply unreadable.
I use a wired ethernet connection, all my machines have gigabit connection (through a gigabit switch) but the macmini is 100mbps.

have someone experienced something similar ?

I was about to start a thread myself.

My problems are a bit different.

When I copy a file larger than 4GB FROM a network share to an Ext partition on Morphos it stops exactly at the 32 bit barrier without an error. I tried Ambient and copy (Shell) with different shares on my NAS and Windows 7 Pro.

    Using FTP with Transfer works.

There is no problem for me to copy a >4GB file TO a network share - verified with md5.

@weiseb: what's your MorphOS filesystem ? Remember that SFS is limited to 4GB max filesize. If you need support for file larger than 4GB, you must use a filesystem that supports such file size. For example, IceFS.

he mentionned an Ext partition. Ext supports large files.

Dont know if this is enough of a test..copied 274MB file to NAS, did a lha test on it, came back good. Should I test a bigger file?

"Big" in this context means at least >2GiB, better >4GiB.

    @SoundSquare

I copied some smaller files (1GB and 3 GB) from my Windows 7 network share.
That worked as well (correct md5).
So it seems to work for me from Morphos with every file and to Morphos with files
    below 4 GB.

It would be great if someone could try to copy a file larger than 4GB (4GiB for marketing people) from a network share to a Morphos partition with large file support.

The usage of binary prefixes is surely not about marketing.

i made more tests transferring flac files from my NAS audio server to morphos and the other way around as well and even if it's quite slow it worked fine. It seems my NAS has some errors on its hard drive, i fixed it and it solved the transfer issue. So nothing to do with morphos SMBFS, phew.
    Solved !
