Yes, that would seem logical. AROS seems, on paper to have everyting going for it. Intel based processors, an adequate set of hardware drivers for enough hard ware, Open sourced etc etc.

It's just when you actually try it... Oh, dear....

Every couple of years I try it, and the pace of improvement is glacial.

You can worry about the price and you're free to voice yor opinion. But the cost is at it is and it is a clear take it or leave it offer. You don'thave to buy the thing untested though. If happen to be interested in MorphOS and want to try it, you rather easily can do so. After doing so there are two options:
Either it convinces you that a key will offer you enough benefit to spend 111.11 EUR or it doesn't. That's a clear and simple deal.
But if you don't want to shell out the money anyway and regardless of how much you like the product while on the other hand using the product w/o a key makes you mad, then indeed you better don't test it at all.

At this point I can't really understand decision by the Morphos team to charge unrealistic subscription prices for their software. As I understand they don't have the illusion of competing with the main OS'es out there, the user base will be hard core Amiga fans. So what are they planning to achieve by keeping the subscription fee so high ? parting with >100 euros is not an easy decision, as it is kind of money that can be spent going to a gig, flying to a nearby country, buying your kids something they want really bad, getting a android tablet, etc, it's not small money. With subscription fee in the range of 30-50 there will be more people using and contributing to the OS (they may rest assured, the userbase will not be 'widespread' even with a subscription fee in that range).

    Just my two yens ...

    +1

+ mos license locked to the hardware you register it to.

Of course cheaper price would give lot more users, but if you're really interested, current price can be saved easily. Think about how much people waste money on other regular activities without complaining that. Going for gig or weekend bar round can soon cost same amount and what you get? Couple of hours fun... why wouldn't you skip those once or twice and you'd get years of fun with MorphOS. Just think some of your other purchases if they really are that necessary or worth it and save for MorphOS which is a pretty cheap for a long term investment. Its usage lasts much longer than some games, movies, gigs etc.

I think the price is not an issue since you can try it for free.
And for everyday users, it is worth the price (for sure!).

To my mind, a free/cheaper MorphOS wouldn't have a larger user base (just some more people using it once a month/year... but can't they just do this with the free version then?).

    @coze

Having not tested MorphOS, how can you possibly decide it's not worth the fee?

You are happy to pay somebody to sing/play instruments for a few hours tops, but don't want to pay the devs for their hundreds of hours work?

I don't know if you are talking about mainstream acts or not but I can't imagine you would get to more than 5 gigs for that amount of money.

If it is a big act, then with travel and drinks or whatever, this would probably be swallowed up in one go.

The price of the licence doesn't seem so high in comparison.
Especially when you consider the length of time of the concerts versus the daily use of MorphOS.

@Jackel. For some people 150e is one day of work and its not a lot...
Whay everybody says Is too much ?! Its just ONE payment and You all have every version of MorphOS 2.0 -> 2.7 and future (i dont know if for 3.0 we will pay extra?) Check Windows. You have to pay for every wersion separate ! Microsoft dont give You free update xp -> vista or 7 ! You have to pay again ! For MorphOS NOT!

P.S. If the license will cheaper MorphOS Team will work slower and the Team will smaller...
