Is the reason for MorphOS on G5 supporting only 1.0 GiB RAM instead of 1.5 GiB that MorphOS reserves 1.0 GiB address space instead of 0.5 GiB for its own purpose on those machines? If yes, why does MorphOS need to reserve more address space on G5 than on G4?

4GB is the maximum you can address in a 32 bit system. Due to Amiga compatibility, the upper 2GB of the address space can't really be used. MorphOS reserves the first 512MB of the address space for its own purpose (ROM modules, emulation, etc). Thus, the maximum you'll see is 1.5GB.

That would rock :-) Using extra gfx card ram as ram disk would be nice on old Efikas too (64MB for gfx and 64MB for ramdisk)!

Most games fixed to run on powerbook g4 laptop.

I admit I haven't tried every game lately, but I thought most games worked anyway?

I can only think of 3 games that don't work, that some people might care for: Heretic II, Shogo and last but not least, Wipeout 2097. Definitely not "most". All of these use warp3d (or minigl) which is why they don't work for now. (Of course there are some small PD games that use W3D aswell, but I don't remember seeing any good one...)

TinyGL has been updated a lot lately, and likely some games might be a bit broken on ALL supported hardware (you mentioned "games not working on PowerBook").

Of course there are some other issues, such as texture transformations not being supported yet on R300 (I think?), that might make some games work badly on PowerBooks (and other R300 hardware).

New screenmodes for Powerbook would be nice.
For example 800x600 640x480 so I can run my 1941 deluxe and
Gianas return or Word me up XL again on Fullscreen.
OWB does not support shopping at mytoys.de it says OWB does not

    @jupp3

When 3.2 was released it was found that most games would not run (I tried most of them) because the powerbook g4 has only one resolution and most games expect the monitor to support much smaller resolutions like 640x480, not 1440x900.

I have trouble running 2 out of 3 of the Quakes out there.

Plus a lot of other things.

Can anyone make the 2GB of extra ram available for a ramdisk?
I remember on the original Amiga I had 3 different types of ram available and some of it was only available for data usage because it was too high in memory to be used by the cpu.

There never was such thing. The memory types you mention are Chip, Fast and Rangermem, which was added by some A500 memory boards and the 512KB extension of the A2000A model.

Rangermem was simply very slow, so it got low priority on usage.

Sure one could create a 2.0GB ram disk using the rest of the memory, but I don´t think its worth the time required to create a proper driver.

    Aww! Spoil-sport. :-)

(Thanks for the link though, good to know the threshold for such things.)

On a related note, I'd be far more interested to see some GPU acceleration rather than any multi-core/cpu implementation.
Multiple cores/cpus (in idealised terms) can multiply effectiveness linearly with increased number. Offloading eg vector/matrix operations to a GPU would make far more of a difference.

Probably mixed up words and it should rather read JIT-JS.
Literally very different beasts, but both (whatever hardware accelerated JS)would be) are synonymous for a major speed increase. At least that's how my error correction mode reads that...
