No, it just means that Wikipedia is not specific enough.

    "featuring WPA/WPA2" means what exactly?
Can I expect that CCMP and EAP-TLS over WPA2 Enterprise will work?

Personally I've neve dreamed about a next to come x86 porting, so I'd like to ask: what you all see more sad? This or the fact that also G5 support will not be released anytime soon and has to be considered just some experiment?

Sad for me is talking again and again for more hardware when for christ sake we already have huge database of HW! Do we never have enough? What would we do after G5 release? Moan about ARM, x86? Come on and let's focus on MorphOS itself.

Mac PPC HW is not viable in the long run. It's a good news to know that new architectures are planned. For now Mac HW are more than enough, what we need is more software, a "dream" would be a killer app...

PS hopefully I'll get a second hand G4 Powerbook soon...

My personal opinion is that porting MorphOS to a totally new architecture (read x86 in all its millions version of motherboards an cpus..) is much much much more complicated than just develop a stable version on G5 Powermacs. We're still speaking about a PowerPC CPU so it's not really a "porting", it's a much more achievable/doable thing. In my opinion speaking about the possibility to port a hobbist OS with little developer team to a totally new architecture like x86.. yes THAT is a DREAM!

If x86 is the target architecture I see no problem there. It's just a matter of selecting a few HW configurations. Just do what Apple do. If I were the MOS Team, I will even sell the HW myself so you know that it'll work and be supported. (or work with an HW vendor)
The only drawback is that many will want to keep their X86 box and will want Morphos to just work on it.
Others will just do like the "Hackintosh team".

But is x86 even mentioned somewhere?

Everyone should enjoy MorphOS on his current hardware. At least I'm doing that.

    signed.
Used G4 MacHW is really cheap and affordable (starts at 29€ at ebay) and power is plenty enough for everydays use.
Much more important, in my opinion, is to have unique and high quality software and games.
It already exists a X86 Amiga like OS for free, what should be the reasons for one prefering MorphOS instead of and pay for it?

    @Henes and @jacadcaps

Hi, thanks a lot for the infos :)

questions about PowerBook G4 supported in MorphOS3.0 and the OS itself :
    - supported the illuminated keyboard ? (in PowerBook)
    - full usable the keyboard (for exemple eject key media, function keys Fxx for screen, sound ...) (in PowerBook)
    - full usable the trackpad ? (in PowerBook)
    - trackpad's gestures or something as Geit's meridian ? (in PowerBook)
    - no video output DVI (in PowerBook), right ?
    - Yomgui's Helios firewire stack in the OS itself ?
    - a new PDF viewer ?
    - audio input usable (in PowerMac and PowerBook) ?
    - sata PCI and scsi PCI cards usable (in PowerMac) ?
    - HFS+ volumes writeable ?
    - PFS3 filesystem ported ?
    - Ambient news ?
    - other infos ? :)

    thanks
    regards

Isn't there a 3rd party program to map keys to actions? Or am I getting it confused with something else? I know that the volume/eject etc etc keys don't work on a Mac keyboard on a Powermac on MorphOS.

Which is fare enough as people won't necessaryly be using a Apple keyboard on a PowerMac/miniMac unlike a Powerbook.

Well, let's try to answer some of those questions:

    - there's no support for illuminated kb atm, but it might happen. Not a priority
    - special keys already work to some extent and I intend to get them all to work
    - trackpad supports two finger taps and scrolling
    - dvi only works in mirror mode so far
    - we'd like to get audio in to work at least for the PowerBook
    - write support for hfs+ is unlikely, pfs will hopefully be included

    @stephen_robinson

Those special keys need extra support in Poseidon to work, so a 3rd party app would only help once this is done (and it mostly already is, just the eject key left to do since it's a separare device with just this key :)

Exactly, and as far as I've understood they now say that support for G5 is not supposed to be what most people would call "planned".

Even though I have a dual 2.7GHz G5 PowerMac, and hope that some year MorphOS4.0 will be released for it, I will be content with already supported and announced G4 Mac models for at least 2 years before I start asking for G5 support to be finished.
