    Yes. Because Adobe hasn't released the official flash player (the only "somewhat functional" one around) under open source license, it's not possible to port it to any unsupported platform (unless Adobe themselves want to do it, which they don't).

    Personally I wouldn't call that "licensing issue", just closed source software.

    Generally licensing says what you may and may not do (like port to other platforms). Being closed source doesn't (as such) forbid that, just makes it practically impossible.

    Of course there are 3rd party open source solutions, but none of them are very compatible, and we have one of those already anyway. Gnash isn't much better yet, but if that changes some day, a port might be considered.

    isn't there a demo or evaluation ver similair to what android 2.2 uses or is this what you were referring to above?

    Android is considered a supported platform by Adobe and thus runs the official Adobe Flash Player, which is closed source like all the other Adobe Flash Player versions.

    Go back to Jupp3's reply in posting #5. What holds true for Adobe Flash holds true for Adobe AIR all the more.
