Is there anything under ADB? I've got a Ibook that's got the trackpad under USB, but no sign of the keyboard, I was wondering how that was attached. USB and they've not said anything or that ADB, which means it won't work

The last iBooks indeed had the 2finger trackpad found in the 1.67GHz PBs and that only exists as USB, but there KBD was still ADB.

In short, the 3.0 bump is simply for down-to-earth reasons.

Off Topic (but related to others discussing their G4 PowerBooks in this thread):

Just spent hours carefully taking apart my 17" 1.67GHz G4 PowerBook to replace the fans and heatsink assembly. It is an over 60 step process to get it out and another 60+ steps to get it back together. I think I will wait for tomorrow to put it back together, as bending over the table working to get it apart is all my back can stand tonight.

I am also upgrading the hard drive from 120gb to 320gb, so I will have to copy everything over from the smaller hdd, or re-install everything.

I was taking my time and being extra careful, as this is the computer that I use the most and don't want to make any mistakes that will kill it, or cause damage that will require more repairs. The reason for the replacement was that only one of the two fans was showing that it would run when the G4 started getting hot.

If it's <5,6 it is not going to be supported with the 3.0 release. It might get supported at some point, but I find that unlikely.

Wanted to go there, too. And while it is only a 1.5 hrs train distance I eventually stood home because of my now 6 weeks young daughter. Next year I will go there with her.

Congratulations Zylesea on the recent birth of your daughter! Children are wonderful people until someone, or society screws them up. I hope you can protect yours as long as possible from that happening. Glad to see that you chose to spend time at home with your daughter, instead of a group of computer people. That is a good sign that she has a better chance to grow up well cared for.

Sure PBs are better than iBs ...... but since there is no chance that the 12" PB will ever be supported one might opt for the 12" iB ;)

As I wrote there would be a bit more detailed post about the next MorphOS release, here it is...


The idea is MorphOS 3.0 would be the next public version and will introduce support for PowerBook (only 15" and 17" PowerBook5,6-5,9 which are the two latest revisions RevD and RevE):

- It will be a completely *free* (as in money free, nobody would have to pay) upgrade for already registered users.
- There will probably be some experimental wireless support for a few external cardbus cards featuring WPA/WPA2. That was demonstrated in Essen.
- There will be enhanced 3D drivers for the R2xx range of Radeon cards
- Proper use of AGP bus has been added where reasonable and available, helping on some low vmem issues with Mac mini for example
- There will be a builtin CD/DVD recording tool named Jalapeno.
- There will be various other enhancements which are not disclosed yet.

As a final note, G5 iMac/PowerMac support will not be released anytime soon. It was just some experiment. No development work is done on it. The focus is now on bug fixing and implementing remaining features for 3.0.

And, BTW, the MorphOS SDK was updated a few hours ago.

Well that mean the Powerbook G4 wiki is wrong as it state that it could be either.
