Regarding OWB - current release had quite some improvements, but became a bit more picky on sites (i.e. there are more sites that cause a crash)

I know 2 sites crashing (leo.org that was reported several times), but apart from that i use this webkit revision without trouble, except for the major memory leak in facebook.

Anyway, a newer webkit revision will most likely fix this. These are not specific issues to MorphOS.

The etherpad software crashes with OWB 1.18 (at least on my machines). Look e.g. here: http://beta.etherpad.org/p/morphos
    With 1.17 Etherpads worked reiably.

You'll still need to define printer driver, IMHO. I have HP Laserjet configuration in Printer prefs and then on the same page device configured as "netprinter.device" unit 0. And then in NetPrinter prefs correct settings for it. Then printing to PRT: should work.

Fab: the memory issues are definitely noticable, unlike previous releases.
I notice that memory is now released when a tab is closed (whereas in 1.17 it was only when the broswer was closed iirc). Is that a webkit change, or an Odyssey one?

On the downside I can now use 1GB of memory just by scrolling up and down the comments in the Guardian: example
Page loads, approx 30% memory used (of 1GB)
Scroll down to start of comments, still only 30%.
Scroll through the comments to the end: 40%
Scroll up and down again a few times, without loading any new comments or changing the page: 100%

Is that a webkit issue, or possibly a Cairo one?*

EDIT: * Seems it is a javascript (and therefore webkit) issue after all.

you can add iana.org to the list (I was looking for an unclaimed port number to use).

    I own a HP Laserjet CP1025nw.
You know, the last time I printed I may have been using an old LaserJet 5M.
    I gave that one away.

Perhaps it is the printer selected.
I do not know a match for the CP1025nw.
    Supposedly it is running PJL.
    Does not have postscript.

Does ghostscript come with Morph OS?
This assign is not in my OS:

    Ghostscript:GS -sDEVICE=turboprint -q

That is the print command in the tab for postscript.

I used to run this http://aminet.net/package/text/dtp/GS510-4-Amiga.
    68k version 5.10

VPDF has ability to print pdf directly using TurboPrint:
    1. configure printer in printer prefs, select laserjet 5l (and select PCL5e emulation in printer), netprinter.device when using netpriter
    2. if you have turborpint 7.60, select higher laserjet model (1300)
    3. open vpdf and some pdf file
    4. print file (turn off postscript switch)

I'm working on new printing system, so maybe we will have better PCL drivers (and better PS printers configuration tool)

    @Zukow

Seems this printer doesn't support PCL, it uses zjstream.
Any plans to port foozjs with your new printing system?

Yes, in theory. I plan to write a few independent bricks first
    1) Postscript printer driver parser
    2) Postscript preprocessor
    3) Reggae decoder/encoder for CUPS raster image format

zjstream problably uses CUPS raster format also so after finishing encoder foozjs can be adapted to morphos

You are right about foozjs. I was hoping it didn't need special treatment.
It works in linux with hplip.

I have morph os 3.1 so whatever TP came with it is what I have.

Let me know if you get it written.

This is one of the best printers HP ever made.

    Its an interesting story:
They wanted a printer to make them a lot of money that cost them little to make so they made the worlds tiniest color laser printer with network abilites. The trick was that it would tell you your toner was empty after so many pages.
The problem was people were removing their yellow toner and finding it still had 90% toner left in it even though the printer said it was empty ( you exceeded the "print limit"). Well, that created quite a stink so they modified the monitoring utility in windows to allow you to do 2 things:
    1) Stop bothering you about the toner being out and just keep printing. I have been told that black is out for a very long time now and it is still going strong.
    2) Allow you to install 3rd party toners. An HP toner costs $60. You can get a 3rd part toner for as little as $10 on ebay or you can buy refill toner and refill them for about $7.

And thats how this little printer became the most cost effective (I paid $130 new on sale) , tiniest, color laser ever made by HP.
    ;-) ;-) ;-)

    @FAB

Everytime I lock up using OWB it is while using the scroll wheel to scroll the screen.

Also, if I only keep one tab open and keep moving between pages, eventually I have no ram free anymore.

No memory is freed up for moving from a large web site to a web site with a few pieces of text.

    :-(

I tried your example at guardian, and the memory usage seems stable once it's loaded and scrolled to bottom. I can scroll forever and ram doesn't decrease.

Now this is weird. I've just tried it again, and the problem is gone. I've not changed any settings from previous visits, the only change I've made is removing a 512MB ram stick which seems to be faulty (so I'm now down to 512MB Ram).

The scenario I described has been evident from the day I upgraded to OWB 1.18, not just a one-off issue. (It's a news site I visit several times a week).

Perhaps guardian has fixed a website bug, but their timing is chronic. Good news that the problem has vanished, I just wish I knew what caused/solved it!
