Can anyone help me with what I need to do to get the LB-LINK working on the MacMini. I tried to enter the url IP address in OWB but that did not work. I think I need to set this up elsewhere in MorphOS.

What's the IP address of your Mac mini? What's the IP address of your WLAN Ethernet bridge?

Type 'ifconfig' into a shell. The default IP address of your WLAN Ethernet bridge should be printed on the device or in the manual.

the shell returns eth0 broadcast 192.168.16.255

The WLAN ethernet bridge will be more difficult to find out - I am at the office. Only the server names are glued on the hardware - no IP there.

The default IP address of the WLAN Ethernet bridge is probably a 192.168.0.x one, and I guess your subnet mask is the usual 255.255.255.0. So you either set your Mac mini (temporarily) to a 192.168.0.x address as well or you change your subnet mask (temporarily) to 255.255.0.0. That way you can access the WLAN Ethernet bridge and set its IP address to a 192.168.16.x one or whatever.
This all is assuming that the different subnets is the problem at your end. If it's another problem I guess I'm out of ideas.

Dear Andreas - I am totally new with MorphOS and have no clue how to change the MacMini ip to 192.168.0.x
Not sure even to do it on my PC...

I am very thankful for your help but would need a little advice how that is actually done.

i can connect the Mac Mini without problem on the direct eth cabel here and get access to internet. Can I use this connection to find out needed info?

I am slightly unclear how this really is supposed to work? I thought the minirouter needed to access the wifi used here somehow.

Sorry for acting stupid but theese days you rarly need this knowledge. I don't mind the challenge but don't know how to do it

    @Andreas

I think I have located the IP/MASK/GATEW info I need. I have all IP's etc. Now just need to try to make it work. So far unsuccessful. Will keep posting.

"Settings" -> "System" -> "Network" -> "Network Interfaces"

You're probably using DHCP to automatically obtain the IP address for your Mac mini. For the process I described you'd have to set it (temporarily) to static IP in the prefs (see above). After successfully configuring the WLAN Ethernet bridge, you can switch back to DHCP.

To make the WLAN Ethernet bridge access your WiFi network you need to somehow access the WLAN Ethernet bridge from your Mac mini beforehand to configure it. At least that's what I've understood you're wanting to do. If you don't want to mess with the subnet mask, it's supposed to work like this:

    1. Connect the WLAN Ethernet bridge to your Mac mini via LAN.
    2. Find out the default IP address of the WLAN Ethernet bridge.
    3. Put the Mac mini in the same subnet as the WLAN Ethernet bridge by changing the (static) IP of the Mac mini accordingly.
    4. Start OWB and enter the IP address of the WLAN Ethernet bridge.
    5. Change the (static) IP address of the WLAN Ethernet bridge to match your WiFi network (192.168.16.x).
    6. Change the static IP of the Mac mini to match your WiFi network (192.168.16.x) and save.
    7. Reboot the Mac mini.
    8. Start OWB and enter the new IP address of the WLAN Ethernet bridge.
    9. Make the WLAN Ethernet bridge connect to your WiFi network by entering SSID, PSK etc.
    10. Test the setup by pointing OWB to a website.
    11. Revert the Mac mini to DHCP and save.
    12. Reboot the Mac mini.
    13. Perform a final test by pointing OWB to a website.

@Andreas - thanks I will work my way forward with your guide. (It is not working yet).

    1) Done - just plugged the LB to both USB and ETH ports of MacMini
    2) Done - That was written under - no problem to access - already did
    3) Where do I do this?
    4) Done
    5) Done (fyi our IP is completely different)
    6) Where do I do this?
from this point I need wait for your clarification on 3 and 6

    Thanks again

That's what I meant when I said it "should be printed on the device" :-)

    > no problem to access - already did

You mean you can access the config web pages of the WLAN Ethernet bridge via OWB? If yes, then my instructions would be moot (except steps #1, #2, #4, #9 and #10) as the problem I suspected (different subnets) was never there.

    > Where do I do this?

See my first answer in my previous posting.

Well, that IP address is what you gave me ;-)

    > from this point I need wait for your clarification on 3 and 6

If you can already access the WLAN Ethernet bridge you wouldn't need to do any of this. And I'd be puzzled as to what the problem is, as everything seems to work as it should. The reason I suspected the subnet problem was you reporting that you can't access the WLAN Ethernet bridge by entering its IP address into OWB. At least that's what I understood.

    Status update;

After failing to make the wifi with B-Link MP01 work at my workplace I brought the macmini home over easter and also tryed to access my home wifi with the B-LinkMP01, and it was fairly easy to set it up: I just logged in on the 192.168.16.254 in the OWB browser and then choose to follow the quick setup by adding the SSID of my network, the encryption type WP2PSK and AES and password. It connected.

But it is is not without trouble as it stops working occassionally, and then the only thing to do is to either restart the OS (Sometimes even that doesnt work) or, most secure redo above setting on the router admin IP address.

I suspect it may be related to when other devices is in use in the home that it tend to stop working. But I am not sure.
Sometimes it is Problem all the time, and sometimes it seems to work nicely for very long time.

Anyone else have experienced this troubles?

    BR/Tomas

    Status/Solution update

After testing a few days I can conclude that if the wifi signal is not close the B-Link MP01 tend to loose contact. But if it is not so far away it works quite good most of the time. I think this solution is good enough for anyone who decide to go for it.

This is my recommendation to anyone who whishes to have a "ready to follow" solution to setup a cheap wifi with their MacMini under MorphoOS

    1. Order the B-Link MP01. I found it for 19$ and free shipping to Sweden at dealextreme.com
    - Shipping time is 10 days from China. No troubles and good email update on the order
    2. Connect it directly in the Mac Mini - the ethernet end in the ethernet slot and the USB end in the USB slot
    3. Make sure the Mode is set to "Client" (there is a switch on the side with 3 modes RT/Client/AP)
    4. Restart MorphOS once done
    5. Start OWB and enter in the address field the following IP: 192.168.16.254 (Check underneeth the little device the number to use)
    - if you dont get to the router setting page, wait a little or close the OWB and restart. Or restart the computer
    6. Click in wireless menu, and then the Site Survey menu
    - Now you will see the list of available WIFI spots. You will see the name (SSID) of each of them and the Authentification type and Encryption type.
    - The WIFI you like to use - it is very important you note down the SSID, Authentification type and the Encyption type
    - No idea to try to connect to any of them in this view - it doesn't work, even if it looks like it "should" be possible to do here...
    7. Go back to main menu (Quick Setup)
    - Choose DHCP (auto config)
    - Type the SSID name, Choose the Authentification type of the SSID and the Encyption type
    - Enter the password for the WIFI and click "Apply"
    - Wait! It appears nothing happens but you need to wait until screen shifts
    - if it take +5 minutes something is wrong - close OWB and restart
    - Go to Reboot menu and restart the router
    8. Test if you can enter a regular webpage in OWB
    - if not - try to restart MorphOS and retry
    - if still not working check the signal strength in site Survey menu. If low - likely the reason
    - The device is a bit sensitive if you are far from the signal, compared to other wifi.

    Enjoy
