cos then it wouldn't work if it's tied to the mac address cos the Peg I registered it on from the CD is *NOT* the one I'm gonna use it on...

um... does that mean I just wasted EU111.11 on a useless keyfile that won't work on the Peg I intend to use it on then? it's not like my company can pull the production machine "out of production" just cos some loser says I can't use it on the non-production machine.

Anyway, why exactly didn't you register on the machine you intend to run 2.0 on? The above "production machine" explanation doesn't make any sense, to register the machine has to run 2.0, and to install 2.0 you have to pull it anyway. The sensible thing would be to multiboot until you got the key (which doesn't take very long anyway), you'll just have 2 short downtimes (the first one obviously being slightly longer)...

Additionally, if it really is a production machine you really shouldn't roll out a new setup until you've thouroughly tested it on an identical backup machine (which could be the one you just registered)!

Sorry for my bad english. Do you know digital divide? In my city don't have ASDL and I don't get MorphOS 2.0 keyfile.

yeah, it is the main machine my company runs from and the odd purchasing method meant I was unable to build the other machine in the timeframe to get the special. we only have a need for a single machine, sort of sucks the way we couldn't just buy it like anything else. I guess I'll should be able to set everything up and 'hopefully' make sure everything works before swapping the harddisks - or something similar... we bought 3 machines cos we used to run from A4000s and we sold off all the spares and the PPC card died then we were in deep sh*t for ages... the downside I guess, is if we do choose to go to MOS2.0, then it basically makes our spares useless :P

actually there was a SINGLE reason for going to MOS2.0, and that is for gigabit networking (if not readily supported hopefully in the near future) cos 100megabit is really taxing the network - yeah, we have PCs too, was being scarcastic before but really shouldn't have to go through such hassles.

Registering 2.0 is complicated, indeed.
The regtool worked fine, but sputnik crashed on my first webemailaccount and was unable to download on the second.
Of course, sputnik doesn't know about ftp:, and wget is missing, too.
So I tried an USB-stick, which was not recognized by MorphOS 2.0... I endet up with burning the keyfile to a CD ... 1056bytes on one CD !

I registered for one of my 3 Pegs, but at the moment MorphOs2.0 runs less stable, the gigabit is much below expectations ( less that 8MB/s) ... and it even boots much slower than 1.45 ....

Most annoying is the node-locking keyfile and the high price. I bought more than one PEG to have a spare part in case one PEG dies .. but now I must hope that the morphteam is still there and willing to change the license ....

.. these are not ideal conditions to further invest into this hobby ...

Writing this thru Sputnik that comes with
MorphOS 2. I have to say that I agree with
most of you people posting in this thread.

150,- is way to much. For me living in Norway,
that price is ok, but when I am thinking of
other countries with less payments, MorphOS 2
wont have big chances at selling.

The key should have been given to you, which
you could use on all of your Peg and Efikas. The
license shouldnt have been tied to the hardware
at all. MorphOS-Team should trust those who have
been supporting them all the way until MorphOS 2
release and give something back. OK! MorphOS 2 is
worth the wait, but at a price of 150,- the team
scares users away. MorphOS 2 is still a hobby OS
and should be availble at a much lower price.

Also, there are lots of people without Internet
connection. People who dont have it, have no
chance buying MorphOS 2. To be able to order
MorphOS 2 from MorphOS-Team website for 100,-
euro would be nice, or atleast make the key
for 150,- not tied to hardware, but to the person.

I hope that MorphOS-Team understands that they
are not Apple or Microsoft. You have your userbase
because people have always liked MorphOS. The
userbase is your free advertising gang and you
should have given something back to the users
really.

Give the users its MorphOS 2, so you can earn on
it in the future aswell, not just now. People will
spread about the free key, which would have been
a positive sign. I just hope that you change on
this subject. Not just for me, but for all in this
small community.

this was the point i made also. It has a serial port but i was unsuccessful getting a tcp program (genesis) to work on the efika. I use dial up, so registering (now at the higher rate!) is out for me! And yes..I just got turned on to morph. not too good

Why don't you try with Miami? Simple to configure, it allows you to go online with dial-up connetion. You find it on aminet. And if the price is stll 111,11 as said by Xenocide...

I read a lot of past threads... There were a lot of people ready to pay for MOS 1.5 (go and see...).. Someone said that he should payed double price to see the new os (the same person opened a thread writing price is too much..).

I have no problem with the price, but the purchase method is really dodgy and the saddest part is my spare motherboards are useless.
