oh yes, I got my key.
    :-o :-o :-o

Thanks for sending it to me within minutes of buying it, and on a sunday at that,

    1) Really need to speed up the 2D driver.
It feels like my powerbook has been dipped in molasses.
    I can't run Lucy.
I can't run the desktop on 1680x1050, everything is too slow.
    Videos barely run.
    Web browser chunks around,

    2) Really need to fix the network driver.
OWB is crashing. A lot. It never did before.
Dropping packets about as fast as Bill Clinton drops his drawers.

    3) I can't run Lucy.
    Did I already say that?
    I can't run Lucy.
See thru windows bog down the whole OS.

Thanks once again for going powerbook and for being quick about the license.

Congratulations on having unlimited usage. Rebooting every 30 minutes gets old quick. :-)

    1) There are some known limitations of not having the 3D driver available yet, Lucy being an example. In the meantime, you can either disable Lucy to operate at a better speed (it's not exactly vital) or use Lucy and have lower speed.
Do the other issues still exist when you have Lucy disabled?
What resolution videos? What is 'chunking around' wrt web broswer?

    2) As asked previously, can you confirm that in the Network Statistics window* that there are 'dropped packets' showing?
If you're having a lot of crashes (as I did previously with 1.17) I'd recommend running SFSdoctor (or PFSdoctor) on the partition containing OWB.
Disclaimer: it worked for me, ymmv.

    3) Then perhaps don't run Lucy until 3D drivers are available. Just a suggestion.

Gfx issues will be resolved once 3.2 comes out which shouldn't be too far off. It's probably still a few weeks, but I guess not many months though.
Regarding OWB - current release had quite some improvements, but became a bit more picky on sites (i.e. there are more sites that cause a crash), usually Fab takes pretty much care of that and I guess we'll see a stability improved release rather soon. Until then you may try the previous release, I think that was a very stable release.

Got the key for my powerbook tonight as well.

ok, will try 1.17 and will use sfsdoctor on the apps: drive.
I did turn Lucy off and well, system still runs slower than the quicksilver did.
The quicksilver on morph 2.x was dreamy fast.

The web browser chunkiness is just another way of saying things are slower than I was used to.
I do appreciate the fact that 1.18 owb runs youtube out of the box.
I had some issues with youtube videos but after a while it cleaned up on its own.
Still, they are slower than morph 2.x.

I will check out this netlamps module and look for lost packets.
Happens at home a lot, but not as much at work.

I will wait patiently for morph 3.2.

I just recovered all my apps from the quicksilver today and it is a very nice system.
I have the best of the best from Amiga.

It definitely shouldn't be that slow (except Lucy of course). Everything is pretty snappy on my PB (the latest version). I don't know what it could be, but I'd check couple of things at least. Check ramdebuglog if there's anything suspicious, for example no lines pointing to radeon driver (not anything triggering it disabling hw acceleration for example?). Then Laptop preferences from system settings... do you have "Adjust CPU frequency between full and half speed" for AC power profile? And PSU connected when you run this system? If that adjust setting is disabled, then the CPU runs always in half speed only. Any other patches like Lucy, which would suffer from non supported 3D functions?

Edit: And is it that slow when booting the plain system from the CD too?

ok, i wanted the PB to run at full speed all the time so i unchecked all power options.
I figured it worked becuase the screen lit up like a christmas tree.
So how do I set it properly to get full speed all the time?

I did a sfs check on the browser drive. No issues.,
There does not appear to be any packet loss.
    Can't explain the crashes.

    To OSCO,
Spreadsheet: I use to use an old amiga spreadsheet made for the A500.
Never have used anything modern for that.
I use Pagestream, FinalWriter, ImageFX, Photogenics, lots of good stuff.

My current project is in getting a travel router and installing DD-WRT so I can setup a VPN connection to work.
I am using RDP and SSH with Morph just fine so all I need to work remotely is a travel router with VPN.
I still cant figure out how to enlarge the font in RemoteShell though. Mighty tiny on a Powerbook.

I don't think it can be forced to be full speed all the time, but it should be enough to check that cpu speed adjustment for the profiles you want speed instead of energy saving. For example like this.

MUI Settings -> Windows -> Fonts -> Monospaced. You can do it just for the RemoteShell from its own MUI settings, or globally for all programs from Ambient menu's global MUI settings, as you of course already know :)

No need, just enable the relevant scripts to enable OWB to play flash videos using html5. Linky

I was recently impressed to find that it also supports dual layer DVD burning (although obviously the iso has to be on a filesystem supporting large files, eg IceFS, ext2 or NTFS). :-)

You may want to adjust your netstack.config settings as discussed here to avoid the mlnet core freezing during use.

    not bad.

what is the 'large file' limit mentioned? is it a 4gb file size limit on SFS?

I did buy IceFS way back. Time to get an external usb drive for backup purposes and format with IceFS. Move mldonkey over there.

    From memory/quick googling for reference:
Sfs, pfs and ffs are limited to maximum 2GB file sizes, and 127GB partition sizes (137GB for PFS).
IceFS, NTFS and ext2 can all handle file sizes >2GB and big partitions.

NTFS and ext2 don't support Amiga-style protection bits, so IceFS is the only 'fully compatible' option in this regard afaik.
NTFS and ext2 are fine for file storage, but I wouldn't want to put my applications folder on there.

NB - You can configure mldonkey to download/upload from any partition/folder, so you can still store the application folder on an SFS/PFS/FFS partition if required.

    Bummer about the external monitor.

Got my scanner to work again in scandal.

Can't get my color laserjet to accept pages.
I am using netprinter.device. Printer has an IP.
I assume no driver is needed to print to a network printer as they just accept RAW data.

I use to print from Pagestream to PRT: and it would work.
    Now it won't.
I copied the NETPAR dosdriver over and rebooted.
Setup NETPAR: in pagestream and It says it is printing but nothing comes out.

    :-(

Router shows printer is getting IP of 192.168.1.98.
netprinter prefs setup for that IP.

You need to press "return" after typing the device name into the text field to save it. It is some quite old glitch!

When you not press enter it will be in place only until you close the window.
