I have bought Morphos to install it in the livingroom with a new bright white philips monitor, it looks nice. I dislike mac os. I had some fun with it already, (like the demo's) but it is not enough... (I noticed that sevaral os 3.x programs run ? I hope I am not screwing the system by cutting aind pasting os 3 libs and programs in c ? )

I need flash, I need photoshop, lightroom, office ed...

    I already donated to rdesktop.

What do you guy's think, are there enough tools available to use morphos as a thin client? Owb is enough for my forum use... But I miss firefox a lot..

I would like at least to have a good connection with a linux box or emulated box to have flash and ubuntu/debian? There I can run office 2007 and open docx files etc..

Oh I also feel other issues:

OWB is slow compared to the rest of the performance..
Copy and pasting is to slow for such a system..

OWB isn't very fast, but it's not that bad, it's nicely usable here. Make sure to run OWB on a non-enhanced screen, should work better. No idea what do you mean with copy/pasting, works fast here.

For me it is not about usability, but getting the most out of the system. I think there is something wrong with it, I am typing right now, the message icons build up slowly.. I have been using pc/amiga since 14 and testing various os's...

I mean file downloading AND file copy and paste takes to long, compared to windows XP and linux. If you compare it with vista it is OK lol..

A 1.42 cpu mac mini should offer faster graphics in owb and allow faster file transfer as well

1.42GHz ? Mean you have only 32MB-VMEM and running out of that can make everything quite slow. Activate the graphics-memory screenbar to see if your on the max.

If yes, either close some windows or disable enhanced display.

Look for a mac mini network problem thread here on morphzone. Maybe it will help you.

Yes indeed, various mistakes, I am not good in new stuff, I must admid that applies to morphos as well, ... I should have asked earlier and split my personal dislikes in sevaral posts anyhow...

As I am playing with the settings, it is getting more comfortable.. I am not saying it is bad, but I have my remarks...

Still I'll need the rdekstop / or emulation do get my work done from this station..

I'll give up for today... I noted the post of the util to start, I did not find it.. I'll spend some more time this weekend with it.. I need a fresh look tomorrow going early to the client..

thanks for the welcome! I have disabled some stuff about buffering and looks, but need to honer and look into it further! I have disabled the image as well, I prefer black desktops, since my eyes are stressed by full day computer usage..

I did not came round to the usb testing, but putting back data with usb was as fast as expected! Writing data to usb in 2.5 took 30 minutes for 600 meg

Welcome! There is much help for new users her and especially the Morph Mailing List. If you havent joined do so now (if you are registered user)

As far as owb, could be your graphics ram like stated earlier.

Try a 16bit Screenmode for Ambient and see if that speeds things up.

The main thing OWB needs is Hardware Cairo acceleration (There should be a bounty for this it would probably double the speed!) right now Cairo is just SW driven..
