Time to change my hardware.
I guess this has been stated several times earlier but I'm not sure how updated the posts on the forums are compared to features and support of recent os-versions. Could anyone give me a spesific spec/model name of the best MorphOS 3.x hardware available out there ? A bit scared to get into ebay to buy something that wont even boot. I understand there are many variations on each Mac model and I'm really not familiar with theese machines. A laptop would definatly be the coolest.

Sound-, net- and 3D-drivers must be available for my preferred system.

Have a Peg2 1GHz +Radeon9200 +512MB at the moment and I like it very much but I feel the speed lacks a bit sometimes.

Btw: are there any special price for the second MOS lisence ?

I suppose you could get a MacMini with a higher CPU clockspeed. I just upgraded my PegII to a Radeon 9100, and 1gb of ram. Seems to work just fine..

- If you buy a MacMini absolutely find a 1,5Ghz one (with 64MB of videoram)
- If you want a Powerbook look for a 5,8 (15") or 5,9 (17") one. They both have G4@1,67Ghz, DDR2 Ram and Radeon 9700 with 128mb of videoram.
- If you want a PowerMac the best choice is an MDD one (Mirrored Drive Doors), and they should be the fastest MorphOS machine at the moment. I would buy a single 1,25Ghz one (the best one to be overclocked) or a dual 1,42Ghz. These CPUs are the 7455 with 1/2MB of L3 cache so faster (even if with lower frequency..) than the CPUs you find on the Mini/PowerBook/Pegasos. Don't buy a Quicksilver, they are good enough machine but not the fastest choice as you ask.

The fastest gfx board fully (2D+3D) supported by Morphos in this moment is the Radeon 8500. Maybe in next months even 9700/9800 will have 3D support.

Are they standarized with some MOS supported gfx card and sound card or do thay have something builtin?

They all have Radeon 9200 (the slowest Radeon of the history..) but only the 1,5Ghz one has 64MB of Ram (the 1,25/1,33/1,42Ghz Mini have 32MB of videoram), so buy a 1,5Ghz version! They are not always easy to find..

A MacMini is a nice toy, I have one, but a MDD is much easier to open and upgrade..

If you think a laptop would be cool, go for the PB 1139. It should be faster than the mini.

Right, kinda crazy to be a unsupported system for and os that doesn't exist yet... Bought mine a few days ago...

OS X sucks, running the latest version of OS X for PPC and apps locks up with the wheel of death that won't force quit, and even crashed the kernel running VLC player. What a big disappointment, can't wait until 3.0 is released...

Unfortunately, 3D drivers for PowerBooks' Radeon 9700 are announced to come only after MorphOS 3.0.

Sound is built-in with the Mac mini and supported by MorphOS of course.

I think that Radeons 7000, 7200 and 7500 are slower than any version of Radeon 9200.

And some Radeon IGPs are even slower (but since they're not supported by MorphOS that's not important).

Remember that 9100 is a relabeled 8500, but in most cases it has little slower Clock/Mem speed so the 8500 remains the fastest 2D/3D gfx currently supported by MorphOS.

When 9500/9600/9700/9800 will finally have 3D support there will be a huge gain in performance..

This is a bargain (64MB of videoRam, 1GB of Ram already installed, Airport and Bluetooth, 80 GB HD..), ask to amigadave to let you have one:

That's because the 9100 is actually a relabeled 8500LE.
