I installed an SB Audigy 2 sound card but found the following problems:

In OS X sound i only coming from the internal speaker and it is not detected.

    &

MorphOS 2.6 freezeswhile booting. (On the MOS logo)
Power Mac G4 1Ghz (Sonnet Encore) 640Mb, ATi Radeon 9000 Pro, USB 2.0
OS: MorphOS 2.6 (Registered) , Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11

I had the same problem with SB Live! , I replaced it with another slightly different SB Live! and it works fine under MOS while OS X only recognizes the internal speakers. I think OSX will only recognize soundblasters made specifically for MAC, but I could be wrong.

you are sure that the audigy has that right chipset ? Not all Audigys have a supported one... but even then I don't think MorphOS should freeze because there is a wrong chipset on the card.

What OSX is concerned ... is soundblaster supported for PPC OSX ? I can't find info on that, only for X86 OSX

I didn't know that Soundblasters were supported under any version of OSX, but no they are definately not supported by PPC macs.

On OS9 there're drivers for Soundblaster Live, but efforts for OSX PPC never came to fruition AFAIK:

Interesting! I never considered OS9 (and Intel Macs do nothing for me), but that IPntel M<ac driver does look really comprehensive.

Score another one for the wolfbot (Zylesea's nickname)!

Really? I thought that SoundSquare had coined this one.

I had to pull my Audigy 2 from my powermac fw800 because it caused all sorts of mischief whereas normal soundblaster live! seems ok.

That is disappointing to read. I own an Audigy2 card and was about to pull it from it's current PC host and try it in my G4 PowerMac with hopes that it would work with MorphOS2.6 and MacOSX. I don't have a FW800 MDD, just a dual 1.25GHz G4 MDD, so will probably give it a try anyway, with hope that it will work in my PowerMac. If not I might have to start looking for another sound card that is supported by MorphOS2.6. I see some members here have listed the Audigy as part of a G4 PowerMac system in their signatures, so it must work in certain configurations.

I have to come back from my previous statement... I had to pull my audigy because the thing makes my powermac freeze rather sooner then later when playing games... and this does not happen when I use the onboard sound. If I can make a dev happy with the thing, so he can take a look at it I would be glad to send it. I have no use for it now.
