Ok, lets assume that having just a nerdy OS isn`t enough, but you want also have the most nerdy boot setup on your Mac Mini, meaning you try to install about every os you can think of.
Well, I've done just that, MorphOS is running, as well as Mac OS Tiger, Ubuntu, Gentoo (partly), FreeBSD (partly) classic Amiga OS and there are more to come. Booting is done with that little bootscript coming with Ubuntu, however as I wanted to be able to select them via Apples Bootmenu as well, I created small boot Partitions and blessed them.
Works fine too. However a small problem remains: I have several bootpartitions to choose from, all showing those cute butterflies, penguins or the OS X Symbol. How do I change them?
I know that they are located as plain text within the bootscripts, but what software can I use to change them into lets say a boingball or bsd devil?
Another question is, how does OS X textlabeling work (beneath the OS X Partition is a label saying "Tiger")? Is it possible to have that label within the bootinfo.txt (or whatever I call that bootscripts) as well?
    If so, how?

I use YABOOT bootloader for O.S. MorphOS, many OSX versions, some Linux/"Unix" distros and also OS9.x, It's all OK (used some PowerMac G4)

I use yaboot as well, but I also want to utilize apples bootmenu, therefore I need to know how to change the "os badges" and whether its possible to have a label beneath like the os x partitions do.

Just search for PPC(MAC) Firmware-commands (Firmware is written in Forth even on Apple too.....) ....there should also possibilities to manipulate the startup-string as it is in Pegasos firmware.... As I remember someone wrote the game "Towers of hanoi" directly in Apple-Firmware (Forth)......

OpenFirmware implementations themselves are not written in Forth. It's just that they must incorporate a Forth interpreter by definition.

Reminds me of this (C instead of Forth):

Btw: If anyone knows how to manipulte screen resolution or textfont and color in PEGASOS-OF (Smart Firmware) then let me know! Unfortuntely the vesa_set_mode command seems to have no effect......and then also nothing happens when using ESCAPE-commands in textstrings. But it should be possible as you can see in environment-variables (eg. Vesalia OEM-Banner) and by pressing F7-F9 to change screen resolution......
The corresponding commands, used by MAC-computers ,seems not to be impelentated in Pegasos smart firmware, or they have a different syntax.....
