I am making a Quick Guide for MOS.
Here is what I have so far:

Rogers all in one beginners quick quide to MOS.

    1) What is the fastest G4 mac made?
    a) Desktop: The Power Mac G4 MDD (Mirrored Drive Door). It has DDR ram. Next in line is the Quicksilver 2002 model with 2x1ghz processors and PC133 ram.
    b) Laptop: The PowerBook 1.67ghz model.

    2) Is there a way to overclock a Power Mac G4?
    a) The easiest way is to use a Sonnet Encore Accelerator. Check eBay for your model. Make sure it matches your model, some work on PC133 ram, some work on the MDD with 266 ram.
    b) Use this link to overclock a quicksilver 1ghz to 1.2ghz. http://homepage.mac.com/schrier/pmg4_1000_1200.html

    3) What is the best sound card for PCI?
    a) MOS has drivers for the 10kemu{x} series. The Sound Blaster Audigy 2 SB0240 would be the best.
    b) On some models of mac the onboard sound is supported but keep in mind that it uses a software codec and burdens the CPU. Get a sound card with a hardware DSP to offload the audio to the card such as the SB Audigy 2.
    4) My mac has USB 1.1. Can I upgrade?
    a) Yes. Make sure the USB 2.0 PCI card has an NEC chip on board and it should work with the Poseidon USB stack just fine. I bought a Belkin 4 port from office depot and it worked great.
    5) Will bluetooth work?
    a) Well, my keyboard, mouse combo came with a bluetooth->usb adapter. Sine MOS works with USB then yes. There is a utility called MMKeyboard which will let you customize your multimedia keyboard and all of the media buttons on it.
    6) Which video card to get?
    a) ati 9000 pro agp is good.
    b) ati 8500 agp ?full? version is faster.
    c) 128mb video ram is max supported at this time. 256Mb card will only use 128mb.
    7) Can I put a better burner in this mac?
    a) I did. However, haven't gotten any burning software to work reliably just yet. Try Frying Pan.
    8) How do I install MOS?
    a) Download the ISO image and burn it using any platform (PC, mac, linux, doesn't matter).
    b) Keys to remember: Hold down C while booting the mac to force a boot off of CDROM.
    c) Let MorphOS setup the partitions for you. It will make the first partition HFS. DO NOT remove this! That is the boot loader. Delete and/or resize the other two if you like.
    9) Does MOS have a full featured Web Browser and Media Player?
    a) Yes. Origyn Web Browser is better than Firefox in my opinion. It features the same engine as Safari for the Mac. The Mplayer media player is available and plays all videos including DVDs. Works great. However, doesn't not play h.264 HD videos unless you have enough CPU power. A mac MDD system would be needed. H.264 is used in blueray and HD youtube videos.
    10) Does YouTube work?
    A) You can either use Tubexx which is a full YouTube manager or you can sign up for the experimental HTML 5 youtube video service for Safari users. Yes, I enjoy youtube a lot with MOS.
    11) Can I run my old amiga software?
    a) Yes, you can. Amiga 68k works fine. You might have to recover your old libraries and old amiga fonts to make some things work. PageStream 3.2 required that I recover the old amiga system fonts to be able to see all of my old amiga magazine I had made.
    b) Games: Yes, there are two emulators...UAE4All (amiga500 only) and E-UAE (all amigas). I recommend E-UAE and using rhLaunch which is a fantastic GUI that found all of my ADFs even in subfolders and provides an easy to use interface.
    12) Does P2P work?
    a) Yes and no. If your machine is fast enough you can use mlDonkey. Bourriquet was a full emule GUI the same as the PC version but France made P2P illegal about 2004 and production of it shutdown. I haven't seen anything else that works besides mlDonkey.
    13) DirOpus still around?
    a) Yes, DirOpus 4.18 PPC is available. Warning though, the config utility is still 68k and tends to crash. I think DirOpus 5 works.
    14) Can I make my own menus?
    a) Yes, Use CRABUM.
    15) Email?
    a) YAM or Simplemail.
    16) Encryption?
    a) MOS comes with Kryptos. It is the same as TrueCrypt at TrueCrypt.org and is completely compatible. You can share volumes between OS's.
    17) Weatherbug?
    a) Download 'Wetter'. Enough said.
    18) 3D?
    a) Blender is available. It is the best open source 3D package on the market in my opinion. Hats off to the porter of this wonderful app.
    19) Filesystems?
    a) SFS: 128gb limit on partitions. Comes with MOS. SFSDoctor comes with MOS.
    b) IceFS: True 64bit filesystem. Supports any size harddrive up to (I think) 128TB. $10 shareware.

    This FAQ shall grow.

    1b) *not yet*
If at all. We all saw demos and progresses of the powerbook port (and I really enjoyed to put my hands on a pb running MorphPS this summer at the Essen show) but support is explicitly not yet confirmed. Don't list it as if it was supported already.

Nice attempt to help the uninformed and the lazy.

Get ready for the criticism that is sure to follow. Hopefully some of it will be constructive criticism and simple corrections and very little of it will be just negative comments with no useful purpose other than to criticize.

Compatibility with CPU upgrades has nothing to do with the RAM. Digital Audio, Quicksilver and some MDD/FW800 have 133 MHz. Remaining MDD/FW800 have 167 MHz (not 266).

    Depends:

    I doubt a 1.42 GHz G4 can play H264 at 720p.

There're some more ways: getvideo AREXX script, OWB with YouTube.js script.

    > I haven't seen anything else that works besides mlDonkey.

TransmissionCLI is a command line BitTorrent client.

    > I think DirOpus 5 works.

    Yes, it does:

I wish they could find a way to support the dualcpus ...

About diropus5 .. does it run on 2.6 like it does on 1.4.x as mentioned on http://jpv.wmhost.com/magellan2ambient/magellan2ambient-faq.html ?

I would like to hear about that since it is one of those apps I still mis.

Yes it still works, I use it all the time still. I have the exactly same installation of it on 2.6 as I had with 1.4.x. It even works better on some parts with 2.x. For example the mentioned font requesters work fine now.

Here is an example video of DOpus startmenus running on MorphOS 2.x.

    @op

Nice thread and important work. However, you need to work on your outline of information, very hard to read and follow. May I suggest some form of

    A)

    1.
    2.
    3.

    B)

    1.
    blah blah

Also can confirm Dopus 5 works nicely on all morphos versions..

MorphOS Team, are quite persistent in avoiding that (the "MOS" thing) spelling for MorphOS. I think Tokai even stated himself he would personally kill a kitty everytime it was misused...
