Hi I have a peg 2 and I want to know what versions specifically that latest release of macos that will successfully install and boot on my machine? I intend on creating a multi boot setup.

How do you go about making a menu to select what os I want to boot with smart firmware, is there already a script already available?

It won't run directly. You need to use "molk" (Mac-On-Linux). The latest release you can run is Mac OS X 10.4 (tiger).

You can find molk here: http://www.ngi-info.com/downloads/MorphOS/MolK/

Note that installing molk is far from trivial. There's manual config file editing involved, and it can take some effort to get network and other things working. Search mz.org for old molk threads.

Piru is correct. That is the last ver of OSX that can run on peg2. I had a nice working system with networking, sound, cd burning, usb everything. But i lost the hd and I just re-installed it and having a hard time with networking and sound drivers they wont install for some reason (mol drivers)

As far as boot menu just search mz. I think morgoth or somebody did 1

I have just downloaded bootcreater and to be honest the readme file makes no sense to me :-? Can someone please give me a really dumbed down walk through on how to set it up?
I have installed both AmigaOS 4.1 and MorphOS 2.5 and can enter the commands to boot them both which works fine but understanding the instructions of how to setup bootcreator has me stumped!

    cheers

here is an example bootscript for you. you need to edit it with your paths.
the texts in () are only for explanation, should be removed from the script:)

    [VERSION]
    1

    [TITLE]
(your bootmenu title, whatever you want)
    (example: MyBootMenu)

    [SETTINGS]
    AbortOnKey = true
Timeout = 9 (set the time of waiting before autoboot in secs.)
Default = 2 (default entry for autoboot)

    [SECTION]
MorphOS 2.x (you can write here whatever you want)
ide:x (x=the number of the partition where your boot.img file is) boot.img bd=xy (bd for the partition where morphos is, xy=the name of that partition)

    (example: ide:0 boot.img bd=dh0)

    [SECTION]
    Amiga OS4.1
ide:x (x=where your amiga os partiton is) amigaboot.of

    (Example: ide:5 amigaboot.of)

in the OF first partition number is 0, so for example the 3rd partition will be ide:2, the 5th is ide:4, etc.....

save the script to ram: as bootmenu.script (or whatever you want) then open a shell
    and type:

    bootcreator ram:bootmenu.script ram:bootmenu

(bootcreator needs to be in C:, otherwise you'll have to give its path to the command as well, easiest way is to drag it to the shell from where it is)

now you gotta copy this bootmenu file to your bootpartition.
after this you have to reset your pegasos and set the autoboot on in the OF also the bootmenu file as the default boot entry to autoboot.
this can be done with the set-env command afair (set-env autoboot=yes or something like that, dont remember exactly sorry. check -help in the OF:)

    i hope this helps.

I remember spending hours getting my Peg 2 to run molk with tiger on it. I dont think the performance is worth the effort it takes to get it working. If I didnt have Macs now I would just get a cheap used one and run it that way. You can pick up a G4 Powermac tower that will run circles around a Peg 2 with molk on it for less then $100. Shoot I've seen them for less then $40 even.

There are a few ways to speed up OSX on Peg. First of all use OSX 10.3 instead of 10.4 (but this means kinda lot of software will not work because of requiring 10.4, like Firefox 3.x, but as Mac-on-Linux is not really fast at all it could be a good idea to use older software versions). Then, use a sound card instead of AC97. And using 15 bit screen modes gives a nice speedup, too, but looks kind of blue-ish; playing around with color settings of the monitor does help up to a certain degree.
