i didn't see any thread in here about this, but just curious what do you mainly do on your MorphOS machine? also, what machine is it (without all the specs)...

i've been an Amiga User since 1992 about, but bought my Pegasos 2s (3 of them) to replace my crippled A4000 at the time (the PPC card died) and I had since sold the A4000. I really only use one Pegasos 2, the others were spares so I didn't get stuck without an Amiga-like system again. Anyway, one I have the last free version of MorphOS (my main machine), the other has a registered MorphoOS 2 which I experiment on...

I've been using it purely as an email machine for the last 10 years or so lol... a bit wasteful? so... I'm after good ideas which might make me want to use my MorphOS more than just that.

I have an Efika that I picked up to get my feet wet. Right now it is a paper weight :) But I have been meaning to do something with it soon - perhaps incorporate it into my AV rack for streaming internet radio and mp3s. If I decide to pick up a key file for it.

My main machine is my G4 mini. I use it during the day in my office for streaming audio typically (jungletrain, eastvillage radio, and WFMU) I use it for personal email, trying my best at creating mods with Milky Tracker, irc, twitter, and some gaming.

I am in the process of starting up a hobby/bedroom indie record label and my hopes is that I will dedicate my operations to using Morphos/68k apps..(aside from audio production purposes) as much as possible which I think is cool hehe.

That is about it - still a novice - but having a blast. :)

I use it mainly for scanning in old pictures and saving them for upload to the net. I've just got an Efika atm, and though it tries`mightily, its` 128MB RAM and lack of disk cache scheme prevents it from being an effective internet tool. Although I must say, OWB is an excellent browser-comparing very favorably to what's on my Mac or PC.

The Efika is really good for scanning though, just the right size for the job.

Pegasos 2: everything. :) It's my primary desktop at home for more than six years now, with everything that means: internet (OWB/IBrowse), e-mail (YAM), remote work on Linuxes and other systems (SSHCon/TwinVNC), watching movies (MPlayer), listening to netradio (AmiNetRadio/MPlayer), chat (AmIRC, PolyGlot, SabreMSN), also poking around in the system, trying new stuff from the net, some developments (though my time is very limited nowadays). It's also a MorphOS betatester machine, but with heavy manual hacks, patches and customization. And it also runs Mr. Banana!!!11 ;-)

Efika: my "portable" MorphOS machine, with almost everything installed as on my Pegasos 2. I use it whenever i need a MorphOS machine away from my Pegasos. It's also a betatester machine, with a custom skin and lightly personalized settings.

Mac mini: Betatester machine, with all default settings (I intentionally keep everything on default, or at least as much as possible), and with latest MorphOS beta. It's also used sometimes as a demo-device for MorphOS on various Amiga user meetings. :-)

Amiga 4000+PPC: Collecting dust. Still has the very latest 1.4.5 installed + some updates (MUI4, Ambient), but i haven't switched it on for years now... :-(

I also have a 2nd Pegasos 2, which is my Linux server at home, running 24/7 since mid-2007, also used to build Free Pascal/LinuxPPC32 daily snapshots and running the testsuite. It also runs an SVN server for my own projects, and backup system for some of the sites i host on another machine, and more. If it survives the next few (let's say ten 8-) ) years in this duty, i plan to retire it, and then also install MorphOS on it. :-)

the only MorphOS capable machine i kept is my Mac Mini G4 1,5ghz with 64gb SSD. I use it as a hobby machine (surf, mails, irc, shoutcast radios etc.) but i use a corei7 3,8ghz PC for the serious stuff like music composing, editing, tracking, mixing, mastering, virtual machines for tests and learning purpose, games, and all kind of stuff that needs horsepower and stability.

Well, my wife bought me a Mac(intel), but after a year my Pegasos (still 1.4.5) is still my main machine. I use: Pagestream, Muibase, IBrowse, OWB, Yam, Mplayer (still better than the OSX-version!), Ripper, CodeAudio, MlDonkey, Showgirls (better than IPhoto) etc....
My Mac is used mainly for watching DVD's and heavy internetstuff...

    Regards Tom

In practise I don't use any other OS than MorphOS at home (well classic AmigaOS for gaming too), so it's for everything :) Mostly spending my time on internet (irc, ssh, web, ftp, telnet), listening all music and watching all movies with it. I also process digital photos regularly with ShowGirls. Some games sometimes too.. OpenTTD (multiplayer), VGP2, BoXiKon for example. Mac mini has replaced Peg1 as main computer, but Peg still gets some use time to time.

I left intel (for good) and got a Powermac G4 to replace my aging P4 HT workstation. I am still waiting for 2.5 so I can run MOS on this baby, I also have a 15" G4 PB and 12 inch ibook both ready for MOS, i run OS X exclusively for now. I may install OS 9 on my MDD, but for now I'll get a 768 mb ram upgrade (3x256 sticks) and hopefully I can get a working disk drive for this, I use a FAST DVD+R/DL drive for everything except installs, that was TDM.
    My Macs:
    Powerbook G4 ALU 1.5GHZ 15" 1.5GB OSX.5.8
    Powermac G4 MDD 1.5GHZ OSX.5.8 MOS2.7

Want a part for a Mac? Let me know, I'll see what I can do.

Amithlon is amazing, questions and help I can provide.

I don't demand much from my home computer and I don't do much at the home computer either. So my MorphOS is used for Internet, WWW mail (I got GMail), music, that's all. Perhaps some gaming and movie watching will come soon.

I think of some dev but PyMUI doc ain't mature enough. CubicIDE is ready just for the case... There's one thing I miss but I miss it only slightly - Skype client (but it won't happen soon).

Another topic is Basilisk II - when I have some time (which is April), I will do thorough research on MacOS8 apps - maybe some other nice stuff comes out of this? I mean other than IcExcel.

I also have at home: MacOSX Tiger, Windows 7, Kubuntu 9.10, plus AROS (just landed, no sound yet, researching it).
Was: Mac Mini PPC running MorphOS 2.4
Now: Amiga Forever 2010 with AmiKit and AmigaSYS
Not used: Icaros Desktop 1.2 (reason: no wifi)
    Planned soon: an OS4 system
Shortly then: a MOS notebook (wifi is a must-have)
