On July 24th, 2010 it will be the 25th Anniversary of the Amiga's presentation at the Lincoln Center with Andy Warhol doing artwork of Debbie Harry.
To celebrate this anniversary I am going to have a weekend long party at my home in Big Bear Lake, California, USA. I know that few here live close enough to my home to attend such a party, but I will offer the invitation to all of you just the same. I know of at least two members here that could attend, if they wish and I hope that they will come. As for the rest, if you have any plans to be in Southern California during the last week of July and can come, you are more than welcome. I have enough extra beds for several to stay the night, and if I run out of beds, there is always room on the floor with sleeping bags, or if that is not acceptable, there are many hotels nearby.
I would encourage all of you to do the same and celebrate the Amiga in some way. Meet with your Amiga using friends, have a party of your own or, go out to a local bar (pub if you are English) and have a few drinks to Jay Miner and his crew of geniuses that created such an amazing and entertaining computer system and OS.
I doubt it will happen, but it would be great if there were some way we could generate some press, or media recognition of the Amiga's 25th Anniversary, and that there are still a few like us that appreciate what it was and what it has become. That it is not dead as so many claim, at least not completely dead (only on life support with many hands trying to pull the plug).
So, if any of you wish to come have a good time celebrating the Amiga with other Amiga users for a single day, or from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon, just let me know that you can make it to my house so I will know how much food to buy. You bring your own drinks as everyone has a different preference of which brand of poison they like to get drunk with.
I hope to see some of you on the weekend of July 24th.
