    Common sense i think.

Macmni is aimed to use at home, where is more than feasible that you already have a wired router.

In the other hand, a laptop is aimed to use on the go, where wifi is more than welcomed. Where are the lan cables at the coffee or the public park?

I use wifi on some of my desktops because it is very difficult to get an ethernet cable to parts of my house. I would also think that any drivers, and supporting software developed, to use the mac mini's wifi could probably be used for a powerbook. I could be completely wrong though.
