    Hi

I've just discovered a problem today with my install of Morphos 2.3 on my Efika.

I came home from work today and realised I hadn't turned my machine off this morning, but what surprised me was that it was saying that I was using an unregistered copy, which I can't understand as I bought a keyfile last year when 2.0 first came out and it was cheap.

I know that last week I was definitely registered when I first installed 2.3 as I remember checking.

    Anybody else come across this?

I've sent a message to support@morphos.de so I'll wait and see if they have any advice.

    Thanks

Most likely your mac address of the internal network card has changed. This could mean your battery is empty.
The keyfile is linked to the mac address.

    Thanks for the info.

Is there an easy way to fix this?

you can change the battery. The problem is that the MAC may not appear and you may need to remove it, boot to see if the MAC is right and later put the battery when the machine is turned on.

I have read something about making a shortcircuit between the pins of the battery socket with the machine turned on, reseting, checking the MAC and putting again the same battery but I don't have details about it because my efika worked changing the battery.

The other weird thing is that one of my hard drive volumes doesn't appear on Ambient at the moment. Its DH2, when I go into MyMophos it is there and I can open it, but it no longer appears at boot up.

I just can't see how that is related to the battery.

With MorphOS 2.3 there was a change/fix in the ide.device The last cylinder of a harddisk was not counted correctly.
This can lead to some serious trouble. Read sys:docs/important-[your language].txt. Could be related to your prob. I had some trouble with my last partitition, that I relate to that particular problem (unfortunately I found sys:docs/important-[your language].txt after I repartitioned that hd...).

Well, I got a new battery today and the MAC address is correct now and my keyfile is working. Funnily though I still can't get the time to stick after a reboot!

No idea why DH2: doesn't show up on Ambient though as it's in the middle of the drive as I have unformatted partitions DH3: and DH4: as well.

Ended up reformatting the drive, as coming to think of it I might have had the same problem before under 2.1, but I can't remember.
