    Just installed Windows7 RC1 64bit and shares i "mount" with Morphos/smbfs
are just blank, i get no access errors or password problems, shares are just
blank(0 files), when i copy a file to the windows7 share, i see it but its 0 bytes both in morphos and windows side ?

Anyone have a clue ? all shares work fine from laptop with XP

    Cato,

I recently got problems mounting Samba-shares with smbfs to my Debian server after upgrading to Debian 5.0. I solved the problems by upgrading to the latest smbfs.

The smbfs on Aminet is an old version. I don't know why Olaf Barthel hasn't uploaded later versions to Aminet, but you can find the newer versions at the Source Forge page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/amiga-smbfs

If you're already using the latest version I still hope this can be of help to some other users, wich, like me, still believed Aminet usually had the latest stuff. :)

I don't think he has been. After all, the now latest version didn't exist when he started this thread :-)

The very recent fixes on sourceforce already made it into the MorphOS version that was released along with the MorphOS 2.x releases last year, though. (compatibility with Samba >= 3.2.0)
If it doesn't work with Windows7 shares, it's most likely related to new security defaults in Windows7 (and Vista).

I found these problems (particularily problems accessing samba 3.2.0 shares) in July 2008 (soon after the samba 3.2.0 was included in Debian unstable). I debugged the problem and developed a bunch of patches and emailed them to Olaf Barthel 24th July 2008.

Why it took 9 months for the patches to get applied is beyond me.

    Try giving it 32768 stack.

For example: run stack=32768 l:smbfs whatever

    Thanks,
it seems it only was a stack problem.
