Don't worry, since it's the Americans that put them there I'm sure they already know one of their own snipers is up on the hill waiting... :P

Well anything more technological than rocks and mud in Afghanistan must surely come from abroad, so you may be right on that one... :-P ;-)

But of course, derailment isn't the main concern. The only concern is that someone might derail the conversation away from blind "patriotic" flag waving and shine a ray of truth on the conversation.

Glad to see at least you have your eyes open.

No one here on this forum can in practice affect the politics that certain world governments choses to pursue. Your views are noticed, and I'm kind of sure that you are not the only one feeling strong against certain US military actions, especially not in Europe.

But this thread is about an individual soldier going abroad, not about the politics behind that. When a soldier gets called there is no room for argue about it, you just have to go.

    Arkanoid, please drop this.

(BTW Acill, weren't you in the navy? Afghanistan of all places?)

If I would "find" Bin Laden on my doorstep tommorow, i would push him to my neighbours door.

27Million might sound like much, but it want last long when your the next "running men" (see the orginal Stephen King book, not the crappy Schwarzenegger movie).

    @Acill

As being Catholic and giving my blessing to another person who is about to starting a dangerous job, even if he is not of my religion, I found your comment rather insulting of my public religious belief, and cheering badly my personal respect and care regarding another user of this forum...

A forum in which I believed we were all united under the common interest in MorphOS/Pegasos, despite of our age, sex, colour, religion, political belief and so on...

Not at all, and may The Supreme Lord Lucifer anoint him with the fat of enemy combattants and Beelzebub's Demon Legion spread pestilence and death before his feet, for he shall be victorious in all his quests.

Has anyone indicated otherwise? I'm sure we welcome rapists, murderers, paedophiles, evangelists, polygamists, what-have-you, as long as they don't encourage others to follow their chosen path of mayhem, or otherwise inflict harm or ill intentions on others here (and preferably others as well, but we have little-to-no control over that).

I'm not suggesting you did any of the sort, I'm merely pointing out that it's presumptious of you to impose your belief on someone else without knowing what their belief is (something which you can see I put on a razor-sharp edge above). If your only intent is wishing someone good luck and safe journey, do just that, it's not hard, you should try it some time...

The White House belongs to me and Acill - and every other american.

bush and his ilk are only "renting it" for a short time. (not short enough).

The Preamble of the Constitution begins:
    "We The People..."
it doesn't say, "Bush, Cheney and his haliburton buddys"
In my view Acill is representing ME and my fellow citizens - NOT the war mongers.

The war against Talibans is useless. Never the coalistion will defeat them. My neighbor (C?dric) returned from mission in 2005 (bases in Tadjikistan) without any result. It is as if you fight against phantoms. The Talibans reappear anywhere.

Be very careful, acill... I had not take part in this thread yet, as I didn't like to bring political things to this forum, but I wish you the best luck, and hope nothing bad happens to you.

    Be strong, but be careful!
