ive decided to dive into amiga again and powered up my imac isight g5
wayfarer wants an update and now the OS wants to be updated to 3.19+

is there a tool or do i install fresh or is there an ISO and i can install using a thumb?
quickest way to victory?
upgrade tool or fresj cdrom/thumb?
i prefer thumb but i think this was originally installed using using a cdrom

all help appreciated

Well Grunch is useless when it comes to updating the OS.

Should work, but I must admit that over the years I had 0 success booting any PPC-Mac from USB.
Once you managed that you click on „install or update“ and just select the options you need.

Replace it for downloading files stored on MorphOS-Storage with Easy2Install - currently v1.4, as many of the files for MorphOS are now actively updated on there and many have been uploaded to there, though some are obviously still uploaded on Aminet, and some are still on their own authors' website(s). You should find Wayfarer v11.1 (current) on its own website, but it can also be downloaded from MorphOS-Storage from its direct link or use Easy2Install - currently v1.4 to do it for you.

You may have noticed that I also have an A1145 iMac G5, which I have always updated via CDRW (easy to replace the files on it when the next version comes out), but v3.19 is quite a lengthy update, so you may consider USB which I believe can be used, but I personally have never used a flash drive, as some work and some don't. With a CDR(W) it works 100% from my experience.

Ideally you should keep a spare copy of your registration key - in case when the update finishes you find that the key in Devs has become invalid! That has happened to me, but I have a spare on a few other storage media, for just such circumstances!

solved the whole problem by downloading the iso with linux and writing to a fat thumb drive.
then used mos to burn the iso to a blank cdr.
linux, absolutely can no longer burn cdr's
they messed that up a long time ago forcing everyone to stop using cdrecord and to use wodim instead
just like they messed up bluetooth for good

@ bash64 - If you're using MorphOS, then the best CD-R(W) burning tool to use is Jalapeno - MorphOS's disc burning tool, as its included with MorphOS, and if you use the RegisterISO v1.12 (current) tool by Guido "Geit" Mersmann, then that will allow you to "inject" your registration key into the Devs drawer in the ISO file so that your CD-R(W) doesn't time-out after 30 minutes and will be read as a registered device, so you can take as long as you like to install the system, or do anything else with the disc as though it is your main HDD with its registered key in place.

It is also a way to recover your registration key if your system goes "belly-up"!

I think I remember saying make and keep a copy safe of your MorphOS keyfile, . . . just in case ! . . . of such circumstances!
