Whats the trick with getting OSX to load under MOL on a Peg2?

It will run MACOS9 fine, but I get the following when attempting to boot the OSX 10.0 CD:

Unable to find driver for this platform: "APPL,MOL".

I have tried 10.2 and 10.3 also I get the same error, but I have to be quick to see it or it scrolls off the screen.

    Thanks,

    John

Stupid question, but are you starting MOL with -X parameter, to use the OSX-specific configuration? OSX will not work with MOL configured for OS9...

Anyway, is it possible to use 2GB+ hardfiles with MOL? I wasn't able to use larger hardfiles, and since i didn't left space for OSX when i partitioned my primary HDD, i had to add a second HDD to install OSX w/o repartitioning/reinstall of Linux.

I got it fixed. I didn't have the drivers in /usr/share/mol/0.9.70/drivers.

Now I am having the partition size problem.

With the 2GIG limitation for a hard file, I installed another hard drive as /hdb. When I try to create a partition on it, OSX tells me "You cannot install Mac OS X on this volume. You cannot start up your computer using this volume".

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks again,

    John

I don't think hardfiles over 2GB are supported yet.

As for the partition problem, the OSX partition has to be within the first 8GB of the harddrive or you won't be able to install to it. I had that same problem and it took me a while to figure it out.

    Hi,

I'm having the same problem like you to start OSX.

Where did you find drivers to put in /usr/share/mol/0.9.70/drivers ?

    I downloaded the rpm from www.maconlinux.org then did a alien -i mol-9.0.70-3.ppc.rpm.

    This worked for me.

    Thanks,

But what are the corerct values for the mouse and keyboard in molrc.config ?
    /dev/mouse ps2, keyboard 5 doesn't seem to be working.

I bought a USB mouse, my settings are:

    mouse_device: /dev/input/mouse0
    mouse_protocol: usb

I have everything working with MOL now, but sound.
I know that ALSA is working, I can test it in Xwindows. I also have the OSX driver loaded.

I am now using the 2.6.4 kernel with a Voodoo3.

    Thanks,

    John
