    Hi all.

    No real reason for making a new thread, other than to see what people think of the new avatar and to say my Pegasos is working again!!! :)

    hi ;)

    Ah right. too many off-topic posts makeing the list lose important posts I guess! :}

    "What was wrong with Your Peg?"

    If you can tell me then Id like to know! :)

    It seems to have been a combination of the new boot.img and my IDE combos playing up. Having just got back from holiday I installed the newest boot.img. Everything was ok for several days then the system would only boot into MOScd then wouldnt boot at all.

    Scared me that did. Thought the gfxcard/ram/ide ports had died in that order.

    After a LOT of IDE juggling it eventually booted to MOS cd with HD and CD on just the one channel (would not even get to OF if I put anything on IDE channel2) but still wouldnt boot to HD.

    Then my HD MOS partition read/write errored So I reformated the Boot and MOS partitions but format threw up errors unless I only used Quick Format.

    So I changed the MOS partition from FFS to PFS3 (like the other partitions are (excluding Boot)) and formatte it that way. Sorted the R/W error.

    Reinstalled MOS1.4 and MOS 1.4 boot.img to HD and then it would boot to HD. Tryed the CD on IDE2 and while the system would now boot it didnt recognise the CD drive in MOS, only in OF. So installed the latest boot.img (bootpeg1.img) and the CD showed up!

    Installed 1.4.2 and put the DVDrom back on chan2 and it all still worked. So then I added back into the sys: what I needed (and still am actually!! Half my fonts no long work such as Georgia!).

    So alls well that ends well. But man! what a faff!!!!

    Oh, and why doesnt MOS come with Helvetica installed but it does come with XHelvetica????

    Oh!

    I assume you have a PegI? I hope this problem is not software based, but Hardware. I am planning to upgrade the boot.img on my PegII, I guess I will keep my eyes open for anything weird.

    Thanks
