    Hi guys,

    quick introduction: I have not touched an Amiga in 20 years (Windows, Linux, Mac only), and for some reason just now decided to get back into it - after seeing a video on YT about MorphOS. I have an old G4 Mac mini here and will buy MorphOS next week. Looking forward to the journey :-)

    Anyway, I just created my account here on the forum. I then wanted to post something in BEGINNERS. But I cannot - all other forums give me the option to create a topic. When I go to BEGINNERS, I am logged out. Logging in gets me back to the overview. When I click on BEGINNERS, I am once more logged out. Any ideas?

    Cheers

    OK - weird. Never mind - I just deleted cache & all cookies and tried again. It is working fine now. My bad. Should have done that first.

    Welcome, your in for a great journey.

    I came back to MorphOS last year after more than 10 years away and it has just blown me away with how good it is.

    A MacMini is a great starting point. I started with that, then got a PowerBook and then a PowerMac G5 (you'll find you'll want the power).

    Great bit is all the hardware is really cheap but the performance on MorphOS is great.

    Sounds great, cannot wait to get started. My main focus is on the web - I mostly work with web-based applications & services. What would be the best browser for MorphOS? I am using stuff like SALESFORCE and JIRA, also GOOGLE DOCS and CONFLUENCE, WORKDAY, POWER-BI, etc. So a good browser would be key.

    And naturally, an email client - though I could also solve this web-based.

    Cheers - and thanks for any feedback.

    Well your in luck as both a browser and email client are currently in active development.

    Just take a look at;

    https://wayfarer.icu/ & https://iris-morphos.com/

    Word of warning though, on a MacMini you might struggle to use the web based applications you have listed.

    Wayfarer is a brilliant modern browser, based on up to date WebKit and it can virtually load any modern website, the issue is that a MacMini G4 is from 2004 and therefore limited in processing power. Wayfarer is great at news websites, YouTube, even most national TV catchup/on-demand services, facebook is even useable but where the hardware struggles is with power intensive webapps.

    Sounds good - I will take a look and test it. If it does get too slow, I will take the next step and get a PowerMac G5. I actually think I still have one in my cellar :-)
