Found this interesting blog review (January 23, 2016) from a programmer testing the Aeros for Raspberry Pi.

The author is even a member here: http://morph.zone/users/4532.html

What I find most interesting about the article is the count of factual errors:

    - Amiga chipset 15 years old in the early 1990s?
    - Apple using REXX in its OS in 2014?
    - Amiga Inc. during Escom days?
    - AROS developers today are the same people as the AROS developers from mid-90s?
    - A1000 had 512 kiB RAM?
    - AROS/m68k works with 1 MiB RAM?
    - GIMP and OpenOffice ported to AROS?
    - Skype and Spotify not available on Linux(/x86)?

    to short answer it...

Aros on ARM is at the beginning now, there is not much software compiled for it (X86 is best supported at the moment), that is the case for all the software the tester mentioned (Free Pascal as example)

About not working preferences I cannot say much, the report is from january so situation can be different now

You could neither change the default background image. An image which to me is childish and counterproductive (the sadist amiga cat whipping a smiling tux? Seriously?). One of my primary goals here is to introduce Aros in schools, teaching kids to program. And a picture like this is not going to fly at all. It creates the completely opposite image of Aros than I believe the author intended.

I dont care about the cat stuff, but it’s just a stupid picture. Nice work, but the image doesnt belong in an OS you want to sell or promote.

The distribution maintainer had been specifically warned about the image and how it might be perceived. So, this type of comment should not come as a surprise :-)

    : D Well.. change it.
The image is a metaphor about the "hosted" OS taking control about the host.
    Prefs->Wanderer and change the wallpaper.

At a later point when all small bits are ready, AEROS will become more "serious" aka boring.
The next official wallpaper is this (in a higher quality because this one was a preview sample):
    12241321_1158755344169540_9067621308663284867_n.jpg

    A note about the article:
It is indeed about an older version (two releases behind).
The i386 emulation makes only sense from Pi2 and above.
The latest version works also on the Pi3
It has now a green wallpaper with the Kitty and tux : D
It has less alien icons on the wallpaper -> interestingly more people have problems with this change because they like to have them there... so next release will have them back : )
It includes now a live updater again.
Big releases will happen 1 / year, smaller updates every 2-3 month.

    BTW:
To change wallpapers you have to use sys:prefs/Wanderer

Good choice, and not offensive to anyone (I think). Let each user switch it to the more controversial kinds of backdrops, if they want.

Not sure why some users had trouble figuring out how to change the background pic?

    why do you ask?

we now have the tablet/smartphone-generation... :-)

I have not looked at Pascals page but there should be some sort of tutorial (or several) what and where can be changed. Not everyone is familiar with it. Theoretical it also might be that something does not work depending on nightly.
