I just got my new powerbook 17" 1139 today to replace my previous gen 15" one. Whats the easiest way to move my install over from the old one to the new one? I'd hate to recreate everything I've done on my old machine.

take a FireWire cable, Helios Firewire Stack and put one of your PowerBooks into FireWire Target Disk Mode.
Then you can simply copy clone all your files from one PowerBook to the other. The one in Target Disk Mode will act as an external Harddisk.

I usually just mark every file in Ambient, drag it to an external HDD, then drag it back into the new computer by copying over everything in it (except those files that doesn't allowed to be copied over). You need to fix some settings later like screen size but it usually works well.

And remember to have the external HD in some Amiga compatible filesystem, like SFS, when doing this! Unless it's just some generic data (not any programs, scripts, or system files).

And don't copy SDK or anything else with softlinks with this method, use some backup/mirror software which can handle the links properly.

What if you're dual booted. Whats the best way for that? Reinstall from scratch on Debian side and then copy MorphOS side?

Just copy the partitions 1:1 with gparted and fix yaboot.conf afterwards, just as described in #57. ;-) Much less hassle than reinstalling from scratch.
