    Yes, many thanks.

What is the official way to access these bits under MOS? battmem.resource seems to only support A3000/A4000-type NVRAM and there doesn't seem to be any NVRAM: or similar device available.

You probably have to check Linux nvram driver implementation. This code only tells that volume is at offset 8 and in 8-bits. Writing to nvram is probably more complex than just that.
    1 + 1 = 3 with very large values of 1

Before YASU made his blog post I tried to run UBUNTU 12.04 from CD. Besides that it never started up properly, it actually also disconnected my Bluetooth Mac keyboard from MorphOS.

    It can't pair again :(

So here I am writing om my Windows7 OS on Morphzone about getting away the startup sound leading me to not be able to use MorphOs until I have a wired keyboard to trigger to start OSX on CD to pair the keyboard to my MacMini which apparently cannot be done from MorphOS

If I wasn't so stubborn I would give up. That will not happen.

But agree with me this really calls for a more slick solution. Minous got my vote.

    Cheers

    /Tom

Don't you have any wired keyboards at all?

AFAIK there is no simple way to access OF from MOS. We don't know how (and where) adresses of OF have to be translated to see this range from MOS at all. Its not a simple peek&poke!
Linux mounts a virtual device, which is mapped to OF-adresses. I think this function MUST be integrated into Quark-Kernel to work. Maybe there is such a device in Quark-Kernel, but the knowledge about is only by the MOS-Developers.
I've also tried to find out if there is a direct OF-command to kill that boot-sound (there are many different sound-commands) - but I had no luck till yet..
    Peg2, 3xPowerMac G5, 2xPowerbookG4, 2x MacMiniG4, Efika (again), A3000T and life is never boring.....

Not anymore, but today I had to buy one to fix my Mac Mini/ MOS Pair issue. Will report soon of the outcome...
