LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Kentuckys players found satisfaction not only from another lopsided victory. The No. 9 Wildcats were pleased with how thoroughly they dispatched USC Upstate 100-34 on Sunday. Senior guard Adia Mathies led the way with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Junior forward Samarie Walker added 13 points and had four steals. Most importantly, Kentucky forced 38 turnovers, leading to 52 points, and kept up the pressure from beginning to end. "What gets us going is our defence," sophomore guard Bria Goss said, "and if were out here hustling and forcing turnovers, then thats always a plus. Weve just got to keep attacking, and our offence will come." Kentuckys offence certainly came together against USC Upstate, from all over the bench. Every player scored for the Wildcats, who shot 50 per cent from the field and 12 of 30 from 3-point range in breaking 100 points for the first time this season. DeNesha Stallworth added 11 points and freshman Janee Thompson had 10 for the Wildcats (4-1), who won their 24th consecutive home game. Walker had three blocks. Valese McAllister scored nine points to lead USC Upstate (2-5), which was close in the opening minutes before being overwhelmed by Kentuckys defence. The Spartans shot just 26 per cent and were outrebounded 42-33. Kentucky was coming off a 73-37 victory over Morehead State on Friday, but Wildcats coach Matt Mitchell wasnt happy with how his team reacted. They shot just 38 per cent and committed 18 turnovers against the Eagles. He had no complaints after a game in which his players were active on both ends for all 40 minutes. "I just felt like we gave a more energetic performance," Mitchell said. "It was a lot closer to where we were trying to get. Im happy for the players. They worked hard to earn this victory today." Mistakes have been a huge problem for the Spartans, who began the day averaging 27 turnovers and committed 33 in their previous game against George Washington, a 48-37 loss. "Thats been our Achilles heel, especially against a very, very good team like Kentucky," coach Tammy George said. "We just struggled, obviously, with 38 turnovers. (Kentucky) played very hard and with lots of pressure. Kentuckys just solid all the way around." Good perimeter shooting got the Wildcats started on the other end as Goss hit back-to-back 3-pointers to counter the Spartans zone. Mathies added a couple as well, setting the stage for a 7-of-16 half from beyond the arc. "I thought it was the most consistent energy weve had," Mitchell said. "I was really happy that we could shoot 50 per cent today. I want to try and see if we can keep doing that and staying around that number is going to be important for this teams development."

"I see a hockey player who has moxie, who has the ability to step up into the play when needed, he has the ability to play strong defensively, he skates strong, he loves the game," said Oiler assistant coach Steve Smith, who has seen virtually every one of the 34 games Schultz played this season with the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League.NOTTINGHAM, England - Carl Froch stuck to his game plan on Saturday -- and the result was a resounding victory over Canadas Lucian Bute that left the English boxer the new IBF super-middleweight world champion. "I executed the plan to a tee," Froch said after his fifth-round victory over the previously undefeated Romanian native. "The plan in fact was just to listen to (coach) Rob McCracken. I listened to him during the fight, as I listened to him for the entire 12 weeks of training camp." That strategy involved staying balanced and avoiding getting hit repeatedly with consecutive punches. On both scores, he was successful. Frochs victory in his hometown of Nottingham leaves the new champion undefeated in more than 20 fights on English soil. Bute, who had defended his title nine times since winning it in 2007, was outclassed by the hard-punching Froch (29-2-0, 21 knockouts). The referee stopped the fight with Bute (30-1-0, 24 knockouts) slumping against the ropes after a flurry of punches from Froch. Bute was able to get in a few punches in each round but was hammered in the third by his 34-year-old opponent. Bute tried to keep his distance beginning in the fourth round but Froch kept on attacking, leaving the defending champion with no option but to hold on for the bell. "I spent too much time trying to trade punches with him" Bute said. "Even on the ropes I thought I could get out of it by surprising him with my left, but I wasnt able to." Frroch, who had taunted Bute in the run-up to the bout by saying he had never fought anyone of note, said it wasnt the cakewalk it may have appeared to be.dddddddddddd "Maybe it looked like an easy fight, but it wasnt an easy fight," said the victor. "The times he caught me, he did hit me hard, and I realized why he was able to knock out so many boxers." Added Froch: "I knew that if I let him get me with consecutive hits, Id be in trouble. But I was a man on a mission tonight. Im built like Pac-Man. When I get punched, I eat them up like its nothing." Bute sounded philosophical after experiencing being defeated for the first time as a professional. "Its my first loss, but its not the end of the world," he said. "Ill be back. I need some rest right now, but I know I have the character to rebound. "I lost a lot of fights as an amateur and I always came back." Frochs victory sets up the possibility of an eventual rematch in Montreal, although the new champions first defence of the title will likely be against another opponent. Frochs last fight was a one-sided loss to Andre Ward in the final of Showtimes Super-Six series in December. He said that defeat served as incentive in preparing for Saturday. "There was a lot of negativity going around in the media about me here locally, but it fuelled me," he said. "I wasnt myself against Ward, but that loss gave me the kick I needed to bring back the old me."
