    ... to honor the 20th anniversary of the bankrupsy of Commodore the 29th of April.

    So long, and thanks for all the Amigas!

    I am unsure if the bankruptcy is something that should be celebrated :)

    Honor Commodore?
    If I was a C64 fan, I could get behind that.

    Not sure they advanced the Amiga correctly.

    For good and bad, they where the seller and developer of the Amiga. They did indeed do a terrible job at it, but maybe - just maybe - it's because they did such a terrible job we got such a lively bunch of Amiga DIY enthusiasts.

    But in the end, I think they do deserve some gratitude for the things they actually did well. The A500 was a very good idea.

    Personally, of the console models, I like the A1200.

    But something tells me Jay would have designed something more advanced than AGA as a successor to the earlier chipsets.

    I like the A1200 too, but by 1992 it wasn't a feat of technology anymore. The A500 was cheap and powerful. The A1200 was just cheap. But AmigaOS 3.0 (3.1) was a really good OS. I think that's what kept the Amigas alive long after C=:s demise.

    The Amiga500 was a bad idea and the reason why the Amiga has got a toy computer reputation.

    Today was 20 years ago C= went bankrupt.

    @Tom01:

    I disagree there. Commodore already had that reputation (manifacturer of game computers) so it made sense to cater to the market they where best at. They where never good at selling high end computers. Amiga would never have developed into a "culture" if it wasn't for the kids. In the hands of professionals only it would have remained a "tool" and been discarded as soon as a better tool had reached the market.
