Hi guys, had a breakin and my mac mini 1.5ghz was stolen. If i manage to find a new one I wonder how I can get the license transferred to it as it was bound to the stolen MMini. :(

Catch the thief and make him confess in front on Mark's webcam stream!

PS: Joking aside, I do hope that the Mac Mini is your biggest concern after the break. I can understand how hard is to see your property violated/stolen. It has happened to a few relatives of my mine the past couple of years and it's a constant fear of me, because if someone breaks into my house he will find a computer galore to steal. Take care man.

Awful news, sorry to hear that Tom. I have nothing but contempt for burglars (except ones named Baggins).

From memory (I had a powerbook die on me) I think you run the regtool as normal.
Once you receive your e-mail with payment details, send an e-mail to the address included in the e-mail (payments - at - morphos-team.net) to say that this is a license transfer from your stolen macmini.
You will receive a new keyfile for the new machine.
On new releases your old machine/keyfile will no longer be registered (blacklisted).

That burglar is going to be disappointed when he realises it's a 2005 Macmini G4. :D

Not quite. This is the officially recommended procedure as outlined since June 2012 (release of MorphOS 3.0):

"In order to apply for a replacement, register the new machine and put "In place of a dead machine" in the Purpose field inside the RegTool application. Verify the link you will receive by email, but do not use the PayPal link. We will contact you using the provided email address. You will need to email us the keyfile generated for the dead hardware in order for us to validate your request and may be asked for some sort of proof that the machine is really dead."

...only with "stolen" where it reads "dead" in this case.

I wonder what would happen if the burglar sells it on ebay and the buyer wants to register MorphOS on it?

    The MorphOS Team says:

"Be aware that the old keyfile will be invalidated for future MorphOS releases and it will not be possible to register that machine again."

Other than that, the MorphOS Team could contact TomKeric, who in turn could inform the police that a part of the stolen goods has turned up again.

Imagine I would by miracle get it back... If reported dead for replacement it would never again be able to install MorphOS on it. That is so sad - almost like having the old PPC die twice...

You'd be able to install and run MorphOS unrestrictedly on it, just no versions that get released after the report was made.
