I'm interested in getting an external hard drive dock but I notice some specify a maximum supported drive capacity of as little as 1.5tb. Others top out at 3tb.

Are these peripheral makers simply prevented from making claims they can't test?

Anyway, if these devices must have limits built in to them, I'd prefer one that sets the bar a little higher - such as 4tb. That oughta hold me for a bit. ;)

Does anyone have one of these docks that specify a particular limit that you've then connected a larger drive to? Did it work?

Also, if you connect via esata, wouldn't the drive capacity limit be determined by your OS or motherboard?
PPC assembly ain't so bad... ;)
