Due to health issues, I will not be attending the 2013 AmiWest Show at all this year. I had tried to get someone else to replace me as the un-official MorphOS representative, who could update the attendees with all of the new information regarding MorphOS3.x which has happened over the past 12 months, but I was unsuccessful.

I also tried to get one or more of the MorphOS Dev. Team members to prepare a video presentation, which could be shown during the AmiWest Show, or perhaps a live Skype Q&A, or presentation, but got no responses.

So, I am very sad to report that it appears that there will be zero MoprhOS representation at the 2013 AmiWest Show.

The show has been 99% OS4.1 oriented, and with a short Skype AROS de conference call and an 1:00 hour presentation of the CD32 given by a former Commodore engineer.

It's been a lot of fun nevertheless. I'm bringing home my classic A1200 with fresh 3.1 roms, an ACA1230 accelerator card with 128 MB Ram and WB 3.9. As a host SACC has been phenomenal.
MacMini G4 1.5GHz with MorphOS 3.9 FPGA MiST w/AmigaOS 3.9 (PFS3), FPGA Replay w/AmigaOS3.9, Amiga 1200 SCSI CD-RW, X-SURF 100 w/Rapidroad USB, External FDD with Chinon and Gotek units and Acer Aspire One ICAROS

    @Amigadave:

much more important you solve your health problem than all the rest. While MorphOS developers will improve system here and there you will have the time to cure yourself. In this way, we will have two important elements at their best next year: You and MorphOS. Take care of yourself, man. I wish you all the best!

Thank you very much for the well wishes for my health. It really means a lot to me to have some people in this community express their concern for what I have been going through for the past 23-1/2 years.

I have decided that the medical system in the USA is not able to help me in a reasonable manner, so I am leaving the country to find better health care outside the USA beginning next year and will be applying for a different insurance company that covers me in many different foreign countries next month, which will take effect on the 1st of 2014. If I am lucky, I may also be able to visit some fellow MorphOS users during my stay in Europe, during the first 2 to 6 months of 2014, where I am hoping to find a more competent Pain Clinic, and/or Neurosurgeon.

    Hey Dave,

    Yes please get better.
We did miss you. At least two folks brought in a mac to have help installing morph. I was only able to help one.

    Once again, good health!

Yes, considering David has been our sole representative in year's past, he could hardly be expected to carry this on by himself when he's been dealing with a serious health issue.
Having grown up in a family that had several members in the health professions, I find it particularly saddening that it can be so difficult to secure necessary care in this country.

God luck, David, you've been a asset to the community.

thanks for your kind words Jim.

It is not so much that there are not any good doctors in the USA, but the damn health insurance companies tie their hands and prevent them from practicing good medicine.

I am hoping that I will find a different result in France, but who really knows if anyone can help my condition?

    David,
I am sure this circumstance completely baffles our European friends.
Its hard to explain to anyone who lives in a country where the control of access to medical care has not been rendered unto insurance companies why we can live in a country that prides itself in the quality of its medical care while having so much difficulty providing fair access for our citizens to it.

Maybe only the few who read this in Canada will get it (as they changed their system fairly recently).

If it helps to explain it in ways everyone can understand - its politics.

    Politics, money, and economic power.
Not really the fault of those in the health care industry (except, maybe, for the insurance companies).
I'm sure once this changes (which is inevitable) we will all wonder what the fuss was about.
