I have this problem that my DVD drive is not working correctly on my Mac Mini G4.

Can anyone in here explain for me in easy words how I install MorphOS 3.3 from a USB key?

I am a novise so help is needed! :)

BTW, assuming you can boot on a working MorphOS installation (no need to boot from usb) you can upgrade with different methods straight from Ambient.

One more question.

I reinstalled MorphOS in My Mac mini and all seemd to go well, just a litle problem.
Everytime I start up the computer I get in to Open Firmwire mode and has to write "mac-boot" to start MorphOS.

It says that it cant find specific MAC partition, hd:3, //bootinfo.txt

Is there anything I can do to get it to boot into morphos automagicaly?

Sorry I can't help you with your booting problem, but I have another similar issue with my Mac Mini and its MorphOS booting procedure/priority. So maybe it will be OK for me to ask my question, as it's along the same topic.

I have a Mac Mini 1.5GHz, and I also have Mac OSX on a separate partition, and also another Mac OSX HDD on an attached USB HDD, which I can also boot from, but the default booting drive is the Mac OSX HDD partition, so I have to hold down the 'alt' key to select my MOS boot drive each time.

My question: Is there an easy way to modify part of the boot system so that MorphOS is the default boot HDD, and not the MAC OSX HDD?

I have found out what to do, think I should share it for you all that is novice like me. :)

First of all, start open firmwire by holding down "command + alt + o + f" on startup until you see the OF screen.

To determine the partition number of the HFS boot partition where the bootinfo.txt file is located type the following:

dir hd:x,\\

where x should be a number of the hd partition, in my case I found the first partition at number 2.
when I wrote "dir hd:2,\\" I found a list files, among them the "bootinfo.txt and by that I new that this is the partition I was looking for.

Now type:

setenv boot-command boot hd:x,\\bootinfo.txt

Now save the changes and reboot by typing:

reset-all

Now enjoy booting directly in to MorphOS 3.3 and feel the incredible boot speed!
