I wish I could do it. I'd love to. Just started a new job, so no vacation time for me. I was prepping my 1.25 PowerMac.. MorphOS is my favourite OS now. :D Does he need money to rent a table? Maybe I can help there.

Congrats on getting a new job Chris, I hope it is a good one and that you like it better than the last one you had.

MorphOS is pretty awesome, considering the tiny resources available to work on it. I keep hoping that it's popularity will continue growing until it catches the attention of a few more GREAT coders, who can join the MorphOS Dev. Team and help speed up it's progress (which has not been bad up to this date).

My other hope is that the MorphOS Dev. Team will join forces with all of the AROS developers and go Open Source when/if they ever decide to start supporting the x86/x64 and/or ARM architectures. I don't care if they keep the name "MorphOS", or "AROS", or pick a new name. I just think it would be great if they make that decision. I know that I for one person will continue to support them with donations equal, or higher than what I would pay new MorphOS registrations on new hardware, so I don't think that going Open Source would hurt them financially, but many/most of the current MorphOS Dev. Team members probably don't want to give up control of their source code to another group to mess around with.

It appears that I will be the only MorphOS user at the 2013 AmiWest Show again this year, or the only one who is willing to set up a display, or consider doing a presentation. That means that MorphOS may not have any representation at this year's show, which is a real shame.

i don't understand why this has to be so hard. Why not just schedule a quick q&A with a morphos dev over skype as a presentation?

    No.

Look at this sample schedule from AmiWest 2011. Check the seminars list and times.

    You're talking approximately 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. CET, right?
    Corrected for California time zone.

And note that skype WAS used with Jason.

Does Skype work on the latest version of the Odyssey web browser and a fast G5 PowerMac? It would be better to have such a presentation being run on a MorphOS3.x system, instead of a Windows, or MacOSX, or Linux operating system. I sort of doubt that Skype will work on MorphOS3.2, but since I have not been following progress as closely as I used to, such support might have slipped in without me knowing about it. I can set up my G5 as a dual-boot system with both MorphOS3.2 and MacOSX10.5.8, if the MacOSX version of Skype still works on 10.5.8. If not, I am sure one of the SACC members can provide a Windows laptop to run Skype.

But I agree, that a presentation by one of the MorphOS Dev. Team members would be the best solution, other than having one of them show up at the show in person, which is highly unlikely.

Can one of the MorphOS Dev. Team members reading this please put this proposition before all of their members who can speak English and see if any of them are willing to do a Skype presentation. I will be happy to work with the SACC organizing group to try to arrange a time that is most convenient for the MorphOS Dev. Team member who agrees to do such a presentation, so you do not have to stay awake into the morning hours to do the presentation.

A Skype video and audio presentation, plus a demonstration of the virtual network client, or remote desktop software, would be the best choice for such a presentation, but if bandwidth prevents any video via Skype, then perhaps we could set up just the audio of the Dev. Team member and place the remote desktop video projected on a large screen.

Although I do not wish to be responsible for the MorphOS representation at this year's AmiWest Show, I am willing to help make sure this presentation via Skype with one or more of the MorphOS Dev. Team members can take place.

No, OWB on MorphOS is not among the platforms supported by the required browser plugin.

    Your doubts are justified.

    > [...] if the MacOSX version of Skype still works on 10.5.8.

Current version won't, but age-old version 2.8.0 does.

And it need not be 'live', to be good. Colate a list of important MOS topics in the next week,
and let the dev team answer the queries at leisure, before their own cameras,
so they can put their best foot forward, highlighting what they like best, future ambitions etc
A good chance to put some serious polish on the old gray apples.

It might be prudent to query some bay area computer recyclers, in case they would
like to unload some old diamonds in bulk, at very tempting show-only prices.

    Cheers

The 2013 AmiWest Show is only days away now, so time is running out to organize any kind of MorphOS3.3 presentation. Even though I do not wish to represent MorphOS at this year's show, I do not wish it to go completely unrepresented, so I am willing to help set up some kind of alternative to a live presentation.

If there are any MorphOS Dev. Team members who are willing to do a live Skype presentation during the 2013 AmiWest Show, I will make sure a computer with Skype installed is available and ready to accept the Skype video call at what ever time is most convenient for such MorphOS Dev. Team member. If that is not feasible, or convenient for any of the MorphOS Dev. Team members to participate in, then the next best alternative would be for one or more of the MorphOS Dev. Team members to record a video presentation that I could show during the 2013 AmiWest Show on one of the two large projection screens at each end of the room where the show is taking place.

Any presentation will be better than nothing for this year's show, so please respond to this request as soon as possible, so we can work out the details and make it happen.

For the rest of the people reading this message, it would be good to post your suggestions on what should be included in such a presentation, or questions you have for the MorphOS Dev. Team, so any MorphOS Dev. Team member who decides to help prepare such a presentation will see all of your ideas and hopefully incorporate them into any presentation that is prepared.

Please help make this happen, so we have some kind of presence at the 2013 AmiWest Show.

    Thanks in advance.
