    I wrote a post over at Amiga.org about Webkit now being more widely used than Firefox. I thought I should repost it here as well, but since MorphZone.org doesn't handle images very well, I post a link instead:

    http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=60443

    In summary:
    If you weight in various sources of statistics, it seems that Webkit surpassed Firefox in popularity sometime during December 2011. If it *didn't* happen in Dec 2011, it happens now in January 2012 or so, judging from the obvious trends you can see in the statistics graphs.

    Go, go, go, Fab!

    Good to be on the right train for once... :-)

    I've never liked Firefox, even when it was good. I've always preferred OWB simple lightweight approach over that bloatmonster

    But then I liked Opera, so what do I know. Shame it's getting worse these days.

    I take it this is a dig at Timberwolf though?

    I myself have used Firefox for 5-6 years now and have found it to be the best browser of all, have tested some alternatives as well of course. I admit it has grown into a huge monster among the years, but its reliable and gets the job done. It still is the numero uno for me.

    My longest off-firefox season was with Opera.. but it didn't do anything better than Firefox so I humbly returned.

    @magnetic

    But the two topmost statistics in my posts *are* from "regular people" (who mostly prefers IE, but if the trends continue, Webkit will soon surpass IE as well in popularity), and every modern source of statistics on at least Wikipedia suggests the same:

    ...which is why there's Chromium for people who want to use Chrome without Google's spyware additions. In the user agent identification string Chromium reports itself as being Chrome, so in the statistics the numbers for Chrome also include Chromium users in fact.

    @Andreas_Wolf,

    Are you forced to give up being able to play ALL Flash when using TenFourFox?

    I just downloaded and installed version 9.0 of TenFourFox and read a bit about the lack of plug-in support. I also downloaded MacTubes and read both the "Readme.txt" and skimmed through the user manual, but did not see any clear instructions on how to use it in conjunction with TenFourFox to play YouTube Flash videos. Is there an "Add-On" for TenFourFox that allows Flash videos and games to work?

    I wish MorphOS3.0 was finished with wireless support so I could just use it 99% of the time for everything. Of course, Flash on MorphOS has it's own set of problems as well.

    No, everything has worked for me so far.

    You can re-enable it easily:

    I don't use any add-on for running Flash videos and games, just the official Adobe Flash player plugin. For Youtube in particular I recommend switching to Youtube's HTML5 mode and playing the video in WebM format so that no Flash player is needed.

    Personally, when using Windows or OSX, Firefox is the only browser I'll use (although it can crash easier then some alternatives).

    For some time, TenFourFox was the only webbrowser which was still updated on PowerPC MacOSX systems.

    Now, there's also a similar approach going on to keep the OSX WebKit core uptodate for PowerPC users.

    Installed this, and it plays nicely with Safari.

    Cool,

    I was vaguely aware of Webkit being updated. I just didn't think about trying it on my PPC Mac. I will have to download it and test them out on a spare machine.

    Thanks
