    The subject line of this thread is a little misleading. At one time I was thinking of a MorphOS-East show, but I really don't think there would be enough interest to make it a "show". I do think a "get together" could be fun and doable. Here is the initial proposal.

    MorphUSA
    When: September 13-15

    Where: Fort Lauderdale, Florida

    What:: Get together on the beach in a pavilion with elecricity, water and BBQ grills. We can set up a few MorphOS systems and can enjoy some grilling/BBQ on the SFL beach. My thought is have a pre-get together on Friday Sept 13. Reserve the pavilion on Saturday September 14. Sunday September 15 would be an optional day to do something in small groups like deep sea fishing, or go to local casinos etc.
    Cost: Your accomidations plus $20. The pavilion is $160 for one day. I can already confirm myself and doffo. if we can get 6 more we can pay for the pavilion for one day. Anything above 6 more people would pay for food and beer.

    To be clear, this is not a computer show. This is a get together. If any Amiga/MorphOS celebrities or companies wanted to get involved, cool, lets talk, but the theme of the event is just hang out and have fun.

    Thoughts? Would you commit $20 and show up on these days?

    Sounds good. By then should have funds to cover my trip up.

    BTW, this is not strictly for MorphOS. AROS, OS4 and Amiga classic users are welcome. I can only guarantee 3x PPC Mac will be set up at this point. Other users may have to bring a system to have a presence.

    Actually, I can (almost) confirm 2 other people without even asking. I will reach out to them shortly. That will bring us to needing only 4 more people to make this happen. The more the merrier, but I think 4 more people will make this happen. :-o

    To support MorphOS being shown during this East-Coast "Get Together", I would be happy to donate $20 to help pay for the pavilion, but consider what it is going to be like trying to watch any kind of computer screen in direct sunlight, or even in the shade of an overhead structure. I think an inside room next to a beach would be a better choice, but since I won't be there, do what ever you like.

    I can't make it during those dates, as my Sister is visiting from New Zealand for another of her triathlon competitions (she also qualified for the main Ironman triathlon in Hawaii, which will take place earlier in this year).

    @Amigadave
    That is a very kind offer. At this rate even with you it looks like we may not hit 8 people.

    @all
    Florida in September is scaring people off? Hotels have air conditioning and it is supposed to be hot on the beach! Actually the beach under a pavilion with the wind blowing is pretty comfortable. I'm sure everyone would jump in the ocean for a few dips too. The park in mind is John U Lloyd State Park. There is more to do in this park than just the ocean.

    This is open to all variants of "Amiga" and clones. I guess if this fails to bring in 8 people, I can extend to C= 8bit users too? Would be a shame if we can't get 8 people minimum.

    Sorry Red,
    I can't do Florida in September. It's not the weather, I love that time of year, it's work. Too south to be done effectively
    for me in September. Besides, I may be doing Orlando or something much earlier in the summer.

    Just looked and it's 1,225 mile drive (18hours) from my house. I didn't look what a flight would cost yet.

    Well might I suggest shooting for next year then, perhaps earlier, and perhaps by then
    there might be exciting occurrances in the MorphOS world. I may be ineventoring my
    Amiga stuff, in hopes of clearing out the stuff. It's not being used, and I know others would find
    it all useful.

    We might as well all get on Google + or something we all can meet on. Sure person to person is better but finding a time and place is always the hardest part.

    Sorry the meeting is not happening Redrumloa.

    It is sad to see the lack of interest and commitment by most users in the USA, but then we don't usually have as much vacation time as most of our counterparts in Europe, plus affordable public transportation is not as prevelant here as it is in most of Europe, so getting to a meeting location might cost more here than it does there.

    It seems that the number of active Amiga/Morph users in the USA is very small these days. I don't know if anything can be done to increase that number, or if it will just continue to decline, until there are only a handful of us left. It almost seems that way already, where I could probably count the number of MorphOS users in the USA on the fingers of my hands.

    The bad economy is not helping things either, and probably has lots to do with people not being willing to spend time and money traveling to an event for their hobby entertainment.

    Maybe with more advance notice you can get a meeting set up for some time next year.
