I'm searching the best solution. Maybe there's other file systems better supported by MorphOS and MacOSx.
You should be able to use ext2 with fuse under OSX.
It would be helpful if some of the more experienced MorphOS users and/or developers, would speak up here in this thread and tell us which file systems they prefer and why they prefer those file systems over any of the other supported file systems for MorphOS3.2 usage.
I will soon be installing a second hdd into my dual 2.7GHz G5 PowerMac for use as a dedicated MorphOS hard drive (or maybe I will get an SSD instead). I would really appreciate all the advice I can get about which partitioning setup and file systems would be best for me to choose when this new hard drive, or SSD arrives. I currently have a 1TB SATA drive installed inside this PowerMac with only MacOSX10.5.8 installed on it, and I don't wish to repartition any of that drive to use for MorphOS3.2, as I want to keep all of that drive space for video storage and video editing.
As I am also thinking of buying 2 micro/mini SSD drives and IDE to micro/mini SATA adapters to be used within my 15" and 17" G4 PowerBook's, I might as will order a regular sized SATA SSD drive in the 64gb to 128gb size for use in my G5 PowerMac.
When making your recommendations about which file system to use for MorphOS3.2, please keep in mind that I would like to also set up the easiest way to share files between the MacOSX hard drive (which is HFS+ formatted) and the partition(s) on the MorphOS3.2 SSD, plus also sharing across my LAN/WLAN to either of my G4 PowerBooks.
Can a few of you give the rest of us who are less knowledgeable your opinions and Pros & Cons of the various file systems and your preferred partition setup (size and number of partitions) for use with MorphOS3.2?
My initial impression is to use the ICE file system for my Work partition. I don't know if using the ICE file system for my System partition is advisable or possible, as I have never looked into the specific requirements of the System partition (I usually just use the default setup for most installs).
