I decided that I polluted my own thread with too many off topic comments andressing some of Andreas' concerns.
I think there are a lot of things that inially attracted me to MorphOS, and its relationship to AmigaOS was really part of the least of them.
I like the ability to still work with 68K code.
I admire the unwiliingness of post Amiga developers to accept "you can't do that" as an answer.
And their willingness to add it if its not there.
Also that the bulk of AOS development occured after the OS was "locked".
Aminet is testament to the stubbornes of committed 3rd party developers.
I'm only beginning to actually research the MorphOS developers.
Harry I was aleary aware of thanks to the utilities he worked on.
Frank, I have exchanged messages with on current topics and only recently been made aware of his RTG API work.
Bigfoot and Fab scare me a little because I know I will never work at their level.
I will get to know others as time passes.
As part of a larger community, you guys represent a speial part.
And one that has suceeded far beyond what i would have ever expected.
So we lost the 68K war, and probably the PPC war.
Who cares about ISAs? They are all pretty similar.
Hey, you answered the "do micro kernel OS' provide enough functionality" question.
And the answer appears to be yes, and you implement an OS this way and add to or change it slowly over time to improve it without the massive re-writes needed by a monolythic OS.
All appologies for the spelling and grammar mistakes.
I'm composing this on an Asus Eee and the real time spell checking does not appear to be working.
I hope you all keep working in the mode you have in the past,
A kind of "why the f' not" mode.
Jim
