Since the MOS 3.2 release isn't revealing itself any time soon, I broke down a picked up a Mac Mini G4 1.42 while the G5s sit in the corner and wait for a "soon" to be released supported OS.

What is the recommended essential software to get the best use and experience??

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Steve,
Nice to know you decided to stick with it.

For my two cents, Fab's Odyssey 1.20 web browser is my most used program.
All of us have been waiting patiently for Claus to finish his word processor Cinnamon Writer (now in beta form).

The Amiga versions of Aladdin 4D and Lightwave 3D work under MorphOS.

And I play Quake II and III regularly.

Also, I am just getting started with the software developers kit.

Chrysalis. It gives you quite a bit of software which will keep you entertained if you're into gaming, has utilities and various other useful apps.

I'm gonna stick with it. I just hate it that these PM G5s are just hanging out in the corner. I want to get started with the OS. All the Amiga's are gone now and my only "amiga" is AmiKit on my Intel Mac (It's not the same) I want to get going with MorphOS.

The Mac Mini G4 will suffice until the 3.2 release.

AFAIK the G5 port will coinside with the 3.2 release.

I have an old A2000, but I do not get much use out of it.
Workbench is kind of irritating after using Ambient for awhile.
Overall, MorphOS feels much more modern than AmigaOS and runs all the applications I use quite fast.
UAE just doesn't do it for me.

Oh, and I didn't mention Papi's package because I don't use that many of the programs.
And even he would tell you that once you are more familiar with MorphOS you are going to want to use something like Grunch for loading programs.

BTW - If you have any problems, you can probably get help working them out.
Fab helped me figure out what was interfring with my Comcast e-mail access (although these days I just spoof another browser).

The MacMini G4 showed up today. Typing on it right now in Safari. Don't know how much I am going to get to mess with it. We are having some wicked thunderstorms here in Oklahoma today!!

Hope weather conditions better quickly and no new storms will appear. Sorry to hear about all the many victims. Stay safe!

Thank You for wishing me well.

I live about 2 hours away from where the tradgies occured in Shawnee and Moore, Oklahoma. I feel like we have missed a bullet. We are very fortunate that nothing happened where me and my family live, only thunderstorms. My heart goes out to those families with little ones that were in the elementary school in Moore, OK.

On a more upbeat note, I got MOS 3.1 up and running and installed the latest version of Chrysalis. I am very impressed with everything. In my opinion, using this is so much better than the A4000, stock 040, OS 3.9, Mediator set up I had. Installation was so easy. No tweaking/frustration to get PCI graphics, USB and ethernet cards to work. It all just works "right out of the box" so to speak. I really like what has been done!
