I wonder how many MorphOS users we have. There are almost 3000 registration. I've got 2 machines and i think a lot of other users will also have 2 or 3 machines. 1000 users maybe?

Define "user". If a user is someone who uses his/her machine(s) at least regurarly then I guess we have 100. But it's just guesses. No one knows for sure.

...and a lot of users only have one license! ;-)

A few years ago, many people would guess that there were about 700 individual license owners. There has been quite a few new faces here the last two years, as well as many acknowledgements at other community sites about old Amigans picking up MorphOS. I'd say that a fair guess would fall somewhere between 1000-1500 individual license owners, and probably closer to 1500 than 1000.

I know quite a few people who got registred MorphOS because they collect everything Amiga. They don't use them much though.

As I said, it depends on what you mean by "user". If having a computer with MorphOS, registrered or unregistred. qualify as a user then we probably have 3000-4000 (removing only those who doesn't have the hardware anymore). But I think you only qualify if you actually use it, and not just turn it on every now and then to update the OS or show a friend what it looks like. IMHO.

I think the number of active + passive users may be 1000. But active users like me who use it for most things are probably close to 100 since us geeks usually have several machines. I currently have 3. And it seems about right when IRC:ing, looking at MZ and various Amiga sites.

I suppose statistics about MorphOS ISO downloads up to a month or two after a new release could give a hunch about *active* users?

Again, depending on your definition of "active" of course...

Yes, thanks for the graph update. I will try to get it printed out and displayed at the dedicated MorphOS display table at the Amiga30 computer show event at the Museum of Computer History this coming weekend.

Time to update the graph. Anyone knows when licence #3000 was issued?

    Here we go again...

    PNG here,
    PDF here.

It looks like "the SAM460 effect" didn't last very long. Well, at least we're "back to normal", with steady growth.

The #3000 licence must have been around October 10th (Ha! That's my son's birthday!)

No big surprise with the insults that seem to be bundled.
I ended any attempts to get MorphOS working after this .

""Why cant I get my Sam460ex a network connection under MorphOS?"

Because you were too stupid to install a supported network card, until a native driver was created?
Since that is EXACTLY what X1000 owners had to do originally to replace some of their onboard hardware."

    @ Spectre660

After you reported issues here on MorphZone, a MorphOS developer offered to help you directly by email.

This is pretty much as friendly and helpful a response as any user reporting a software problem could possibly expect.

If you are dissatisfied with your experience on MorphZone, you are welcome to post on Pegasosforum.de instead.

    @ASiegel

I did exchange emails and send debug output to the developer.
But as I seem to be the only person to have reported this issue and as I have no intention of using MorphOS again then it is not a problem .

Mystery solved... You should stay away from forums and internet overall as it's full of violence and sometimes you might get "insults" like that just because someone had a bad day or so.
