There's a book called Accidental Empires with a passage about an early (& failed) OS for the original IBM pc - p/dos. The 'p' was for pseudo. Programs for it were intended to be some kind of byte code for a non-existent cpu. Had the concept succeeded the underlying hardware would have been irrelevant. My point being, getting away from hardware dependance could be good for MorphOS.
