Looks like yet another one is trying to hit today... It doesn't look as bad for my area as it could have been, but we'll probably lose power (again)...

Just heard it on the news. New Orleans has blackouts already.
Hope you are at a safe place and the storm will pass by relativly peaceful.

Nature's striking back again: Heyvy bush fires in Portugal, too much rain in Suisse, Austria, south Germany. Is this random or is it the green house effect, I fear it's the latter.

We need more low power computers to reduce CO2 output...

Neither, it's cyclic. The thing that throws us off is that the cycles are on the magnitude of many decades. To my understanding we've only had decent written records of such weather patterns for eighty or so years, keeping in mind that I mean years with a lot of activity vs. calm years -- rather than storm by storm.

I feel for those in New Orleans right now more than the rest because they have a hurricane (Katrina) hitting them, and their whole city is below sea level!

My guess is that your browser isn't saving cookies, but it could be a number of things. Voyager? IBrowse? *GASP* something else?

irronically jet airplanes have more to do with the ozone and greenhouse effects then anything else. THe other issues hurt the air we breath and our water, but they never enter the atmosphere contrary to popular belief. MOst polutants are heavier then air and only float when there hot as they cool down they setttle back to the earth. on the other hand jets are so high up there that the smog they produce goes right up :(

There are many things to take into account. The fluctuation of CO2 in the atmosphere is a rather complex issue and it is hard to measure which CO2 goes up to the stratosphere. Not hard to measure is that the CO2 partial pressure is rising there.
Noone can give warranties now wether the CO2 emissions are changing the climate or not, but warranty can be given that a reduction of CO2 emission can't hurt the climate.
It is a very complex field, and the temperature rising is most likely a positive feedback process, hence it's most likely too late now anyway.

Yes - planes are a major problem for the environment. Time to use more high speed trains like the Shinkansen, TGV or ICE - The ICE3 has reached a good energy efficience now (but suffers on bad software).

We had also had really bad weather here last week.
Makes me wonder what's happening to the world/climate in general..
Here's a pic from my neighbourhood to illustrate the damages.

Well, we were lucky, but there were many (50 - 80 depending on the news service) in mississippi who were not. If you have a chance to check with routers or the AP, it is obvious the effects in New Orleans.

We only lost phone/power for a little while, otherwise we're okay here. (power and phone are available here, thank the stars).
