    sorry, but if there are no games that use it I vote to use programmers for fixing bugs in 3.2 and God knows there are a ton of them.

    I am at the point of reformatting my laptop because I cannot get usb to work right in 3.2.
    3.1 never game me a single problem.
    G5 with 3.2 has the same issues with 3.2 and usb.

    I am dieing out here.

    Just for the record, you don't need to reformat anything to downgrade from 3.2 to 3.1 (or any other >=2.0 version).
    Just use the 3.1 bootcd and choose to "upgrade". This will "upgrade" your 3.2 install to 3.1...

    Of couse this won't work for a G5 which is only supported in 3.2+.

    Well, I had a look at SDL 2.0 on Linux yesterday, games need to be rewritten to use SDL 2.0, it's not just some new functions.
    And actually, no game use SDL 2.0 ....

    Well, SDL 2.0 will be needed, but there is actually no urgency ....

    I remember the Pixel32 image editor development was abandoned on MorphOS because our SDL was not updated like on other systems during a very long time and the developer could not maintained the MorphOS port.

    We lost the DanLab Games for the same reason.

    So, about me, If we have a developer able to do it, it would be a chance to get modern stuff on MorphOS.

    Considering both of these happened quite a while ago (DanLabs was in 2005, wasn't it?), I have hard time believing all of them would depend on unreleased unstable / beta version of SDL, which wasn't guaranteed to have same API than now released 2.0...

    And as most games seem to be 3D anyway, can't see any big benefit of using even finished SDL 2.0.

    -EDIT-

    I think the biggest update in SDL 2.0 is that it can (finally!) properly accelerate SDL 2D graphics drawing calls with f.ex. OpenGL. Of course calls themselves must have changed significantly, so you simply can't just recompile any older project...

    DanLab Games first expressed interest in MorphOS in late 2005 and wanted to port their games to it, yes. In early 2006 they got sent a Pegasos for porting, but it wasn't before late 2008 that they released their first game for MorphOS.

    I know SDL 2.0 will not change anything about Pixel32 or DanLabGames.
    I gave this two lost softwares as examples.

    It would be sad if we loose other nice software on futur because of lake SDL 2.0 on our OS.

    Hi Andreas,

    Our PowerSDL 16.0 is an adaptation of SDL1.2.15.
    This PowerSDL 16.0 came with some bug fixes and this bug fixes permeated island mini golf (ported on 2007) to work.

    The other games from DanLab and for sure Pixel were coded with newer SDL than 1.2.15.

    Our SDL port (1.2.15)=PowerSDL16.0 is too old. This is a fact.

    I'm sorry, I did a mistake. PowerSDL V16 is the most recent V1 SDL. Sorry for that mistake.
    Unfortunately it's too late for pixel and other DanLab games because this update took long years to come.

    SDL 1.2.15 was released in 2012 and is the last version before SDL 2.0.

    The last version of Pixel32 and also Islands Mini-Golf are years older so must have been developed for older SDL version than 1.2.15. Newer SDL than 1.2.15 would mean SDL 2.0 or newer.

    Since it's the most recent SDL1 version, it can hardly be "too old" :-)

    SDL2, however, is a different project (as in "you probably need moderate modifications for code to switch between the two"), and I'd say it's "too new". Not too new to port to MorphOS, but too new for us to "really need it yet", as there's rather minimal amount of software using it around. Who knows, it might also end up in Allegro-like state, that only a handful of "worthy" programs use it.

    For now, it's MUCH more important to have SDL1 than SDL2, although of course having both wouldn't hurt...

    And considering SDL2 was released in the middle of august this year (a bit over 3 months ago), it's perfectly understandable there isn't much software for it yet, and that many especially smaller operating systems don't support it yet :-)

    Of course it also often makes sense to "wait a while" after project release for bugs to get found and fixed etc. before even attempting port to other operating systems...

    Since you insist on SDL2 so much, here's a challenge. Find 5 "worthy" games / programs that require it.

    Well, there's a program for which I maintain the MorphOS port, which is planning on moving to SDL2 soon. So if SDL2 is not supported by then, that port will have to be discontinued I'm afraid.
