Is it possible to boot MOS 3.5.x from an external FireWire400 harddisk at a Powerbook 5.9?
When pressing "Alt" for the alternative startupmenu at the powerbook - I can see my internal system drive with MacOSX Leopard and the external FireWire400 drive (it has a small blue butterfly logo on it). But when I am selecting the MOS drive the harddisk LED lights up shortly and the screen keeps grey. Nothing happens.

How can I boot MOS from an external FireWire drive?

It is not possible, as there is no firewire device included in the boot.img right now, so after loading the boot.img from OF, MorphOS will stop booting unless it finds some ready to boot system on HD, USB or CD.

    I see...
Does MOS support external FireWire drives in general? I mean just using them as additonal space, not booting from them.

Not out of the box, but there are firewire drivers which work quite nicely and could some day be integrated into MorphOS itself.

I use it quite often with the build in target mode which comes with all our macs. You just need to reboot and holding the "t" key to turn the computer into a gigantic external harddrive., which allows you easy cloning/backup data.

I've done the opposite. MorphOS is installed on the internal harddrive, and I boot Mac OS X from an external FW harddrive.

Why not multiboot on one internal drive? I am have on my PB and MM triple boot osx+morphos+linux and select via yaboot or alt - very comfortable.

P.S. Internal drive is msata ssd 128 gb connected with msata2ide44 adapter - perfomance boosted dramatically in comparsion with stock drive. (On HDD Safari icon in dock jumps about 17 times, on SSD ~1,5-2 times).

I've also installed MOS on internal drive and use (boot) OSX from USB-Stick - don't need MacOS very often.....
